Can someone tell me the differences between these 2 towers?
I seem to recall that one is older, maybe not.
    Just wondering which to request.
    Thanks!

There may be a small difference in the rooms, but not much.

I've stayed on both sides .... was happy in both.

The north tower is very close to Fremont Street. If your window overlooks the FSE, there will be noise at night. If your room is across the hall, it is quieter.

North tower elevators are close to the sports book.

South tower elevators are next to the checkin desk.

The South tower is farther away from Fremont Street, and is quieter.

Hope that helps a bit. Like I said, I have been happy in either tower.

I've stayed in standard rooms in both towers and really couldn't tell much difference. Pretty sure the South Tower has to be newer, because the elevators are nicer, but that's about it really in terms of things I've noticed. Maybe I should pay more attention to detail.

In terms of noise, if you turn in early or it otherwise bothers you, I'd suggest asking for a room facing south (away from Fremont St), either tower.

For the moment, I'd put the north tower completely out of the question. It's right up against FSE, and there are jackhammers starting at 7am daily for the zipline directly below the windows. 4 Queens is being hit the hardest, along with Golden Gate, for having the noise directly out front.

I've stayed in both towers -- the rooms are very similar. If I remember correctly, the South tower's hallways are slightly nicer.

The only reason I would choose South is that it's further from Fremont street, so it might be a little quieter.

It's been many years since we stayed at the 4Q, but I'd definitely recommend the south tower with a south-facing room. (Unless you happen to like noise – we don't.) We first got a room in the north tower. It's hard to explain, but the elevator, hallway, and room itself gave us the creeps; and we're far from being all that picky about where we stay. After spending about 10 minutes trying to convince each other that it really wasn't all that bad, we went back to the desk and were able to switch to the south tower. We found the differences like night and day!

If noise is an issue for you (it is for me, I stay on Eastern time) be sure to let the desk know. I was given a south tower room facing north and the Third Street music stage made sleep impossible. I have slept soundly in both towers facing south, but I have no experience with jackhammers. I would think that would be more of a morning problem, but who knows with Las Vegas.

    Take south tower, south side.

    Trust me.

For one things (minor) the AC on north tower rooms can't be shut off. Fan noise.

    Plus FSE noise.

    Rooms are older.

That pretty much sums up my experience. First stay I had was the in the south tower. Loved it. Second stay, I wanted north tower because I thought it would be cool to come down in the elevator right on Fremont St. I never could put my finger on anything actually wrong with that room, but it did creep me out for some reason. Had I stayed there first, I never would have gone back to the 4 Queens. I really really like the south tower rooms. Their Jr Suites are nice too if you can swing one.

Bingo. I stayed at 4Q once. 4th floor on the Fremont side. Never again. Was kept up all night long by Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Kenny G, Alabama, etc.

Make sure you get a room away from the FSE.

Unless you really enjoy the FSE... I loved being able to watch and hear the FSE shows from my 6th floor North Tower room. When the show was not on I could see the shops and casinos all lit up. A very cool view on a very easy comp. Much better than the view of the top side of the FSE. From above it's a bit of an eyesore.

It's only good though if you go to bed very late (I do) and / or can sleep through anything.

Excellent blog, your detail and pictures make it special! Thanks for the info.
I wish the oxtail soup was served earlier. My mother used to make it Eastern European and Italian style.

Thanks! The Oxtail Soup is technically offered until 9am, but it rarely lasts that long. It's worth staying up for.

    i like north tower

I was comped 3 nights there and liked the north tower directly over the casino. I could play blackjack till the wee hours of the morning, and after drinking a beer every 15 minutes by my trusty cocktail waitress, it was only a few feet to walk to the elevator, 10 steps from the elevator to my room and 2 steps into bed...perfect!

I have yet to stay on Fremont St, but when I get to it I really want to stay at either the 4 Queens of the Golden Nugget. Any preferences?

They are very different hotels. Four Queens is inexpensive, basic and clean. Two star, maybe 3. Golden Nugget is more expensive and more luxurious. Three star, maybe 4.

Both are very good for what they are. Which you should choose depends on your needs, and your budget.

Good feedback, thanks. I'm ok with inexpensive and basic so it sounds like 4 Queens might be for me.

Just back from another stay at Four Queens, about my tenth. North tower, north side first night, south side next three nights. South tower was full. I had trouble with Fremont noise first night, no problem after moving across the hall. Rooms were older, clean but in need of remodel, shower pressure awful. King bed broke down in a few places; when I travel without my wife I take two queen beds so I can choose between them. If you want downtown, stay at the Four Queens and take your chances, you might experience something that you like( like decent gambling, a staff that learns your name, value in food). Otherwise, stay at Golden Nugget, which is a wonderful Strip property with a location problem.
