Hello all --- everyone was very helpful on this message board so may as well give my review of the Flamingo (and my first trip to Vegas).

I actually spent most of my time at the Westin since a friend was paying for the rooms there--

But I got in a night early and spent my first (Wednesday) night at the Flamingo a couple weeks ago.

I booked a GO room for $75 after fees (not bad IMO). I was debating whether or not I should ask/ pay $20 for a strip view room --- hey, who knows when I will be returning to Vegas again?

Anyway, when I got in on Wed night, perhaps they weren't booked too much. They offered me a complimentary upgrade to a suite without me even asking for anything. Not bad, I thought.

I get up there --- I'm pretty sure it was a Neapolitan suite. View of the strip + Bellagio fountains. It's a shame I was staying alone the first night --- all that wasted space :rolleyes2: I did enjoy the two bathrooms.

Let me tell you, I ended up pissing a bunch of money away at the casino, bars, and strip clubs while I was there. But that was my Vegas moment --- the fancy suite at Flamingo. I didn't bring any iPod but ended up plugging my laptop into their sound system. It put out some pretty good sound, albeit it was mono, perhaps because it wasn't meant for laptops.

    Would stay again!

I stayed in a Flamingo GO room for the first time on our last trip, it was great! The room was nice, new and clean and the property was in a wonderful location. Staying at the Cosmo and TheHotel this next trip to try something new but I had lots of fun at the Flamingo

Still one of the best hotels on the strip, in my opinion.

I probably stayed either at the Flamingo or Bally's for a solid eight-nine years before branching out and trying out some of the newer places with bigger square footage / suites, but I never had any horror stories at that place.

I think they renovated all of the rooms now, but the GO Deluxe are pretty nice. I like that they actually have a CD and DVD player in those rooms. The ipod docks in most of the newer places don't have the volume those stereo units do at Flamingo.

Good to read you had a great time despite pissing a lot of money away. That's the way it's honestly supposed to be.

    Go back, though. Good God.

I was only there one night, but I did opt to do a late check-out so I could check-out the pool.

I think I got down there at 10.00 am ---- NO ONE was in the pool! It was hotter than Hades outside, too.

Seriously there were 100 people down there all sun-bathing. I guess it was 'early-ish' for Vegas time, but still. It was Thursday morning.

So, I said fuck it and went for a swim anyway --- feeling slightly self conscious since I was swimming solo in front of everybody.

Not as fun without a crazy party going on, but room to stretch out I guess.

That's great to hear...I will be staying for the 1st time at Flamingo in 32 days. So many bad reviews Im nervous. But I'm going in with the same expectations that I had from Bill's last year. Not a lot. I'm not expecting 5 stars. I'm hoping for a clean room to sleep and shower in. Turned out last year...I loved Bill's. Very clean spacious room with a great view, everything was wonderful. Casino was hopping and exciting....great vibes. Gonna miss it. I'm hoping Flamingo will fill that void.:blowkiss:

Don't be nervous. The reviews at Flamingo, Wynn, Luxor, Aria, Caesars, etc. etc. are good and bad no matter where you stay at in Vegas. I've been hearing good and bad reviews about Vegas hotels since the late 70's. People will complain about something and everything no matter what. Just take the knowledge you have'd gained in here and have a wonderful time. I will be in the promised land in one day, life is too short to worry about needless things. Just remember.........it's VEGAS BABY!!!

    Don't be nervous

    Ditto what Waverunner said.

I've stayed at the Flamingo twice in the past two years, both times during the summer, both times in a GO Luxury/View room, and had a great experience both times. The room was great...no cleanliness issues. Hallways were clean (one of the things people always gripe about...but during my weeklong stay last summer, I saw housekeeping running a steam cleaner through my hallway twice while I was there). I have a room booked again for my trip this summer, and am looking forward to it.

It sounds like you're going in with the right expectations, so you'll be fine. Enjoy your trip!

Are the flamingo fab or go rooms big enough to fit 3 guys or should we get two rooms? Maybe a $100 trick will get us upgraded to a suite?

By the way, for anyone else considering the Flamingo, make sure you sign in to your Total Rewards account when placing a reservation. I just joined the program, logged in, and the room prices dropped nearly 50%.

Also, thanks for the helpful info on this thread! It convinced me to leave for Vegas one day early and stay in the Flamingo for a night before heading Downtown...I leave tonight!!! First trip to Vegas...

I would say you could get away with it with two doubles in the GO room.

The GO Mini Suite would probably be the best booking for the three of you. Their Neopolitan Suite isn't much bigger than that at all and they charge about $200+ additionally/night for it.

The Mini is just a few more bucks than the regular GO Deluxe's and it's a better set up for you guys.

It's not THAT bad. It just would never be my first choice, and I wouldn't stay in anything but a GO room. I stayed there last year for $20, that was great. But if someone asked me to pay $100 I'd say no thanks, let's go somewhere else. My main reason for not liking Flamingo that much is, there is no desirable food options, and their casino is old and outdated. But the rooms themselves are alright.

They have 2 beds, should be fine.. unless you guys don't want to share beds (I know that's a guy thing haha). Don't upgrade, the suites will only have one bed, and they don't have very many suites at Flamingo.

Just got back from Flamingo this weekend. If modern furnishings aren't of the utmost importance, they have large older un-remodeled suites (The fire escape placard still says Flamingo Hilton) that you can try to score for less than the newer ones. I was very pleased with the suite they placed me in for a very reasonable upcharge.
