I recently received a request to "connect" on LinkedIn with a Vegas casino host I haven't interacted with in maybe 6-7 months.

I found it a bit unsettling, for some reason. As if my professional and Vegas worlds were colliding.

I'm wondering if anyone here has had this happen and if you might share
what you thought/did about it? I'd appreciate any experiences or insights.

personally... I would want to keep my business or personal life SEPARATE from anything in Vegas.

In fact, I think it is unprofessional of the host. In their defense - maybe - but usually programs like that will go through your entire email address list and do invites if you allow it.

Not from a casino host, but from time to time I get requests to connect with people from my past on Linkedin that seem random or out of the blue.

I don't think of it as somebody seeking me out personally to connect, but more like somebody just signed up for LinkedIn and used the "search for contacts" functionality to sweep through their email accounts for any and all email addresses, new or old.

That said, being asked to connect to a host that "I haven't interacted with in maybe 6-7 months" you make it sound like its been neigh upon forever since you talked to that person and they are like some long lost contact from the past showing up out of nowhere. Six to seven months is almost no time at all and if you were somebody who only goes to Vegas once and occasionally twice a year that'd be almost like a badgering level of contact from the host...

Vegas life and real life should never intersect.

Players are his business, I don't think it's unprofessional in the least and it was a "request" to connect... don't "connect" if it bugs you, it's not like he's stalking you.

I agree. LinkedIn isn't personal like Facebook, it's all about business. So it's not weird for people who you do business with to ask to connect with you there.

I wasn't implying anything "stalker-like" at all, nor was I judging the host for having
    sent me the request.
I didn't "connect" because I didn't see any benefit in doing so.

My point was I felt the professional and leisure parts of my life intersected in an
unusual way and I was wondering if anyone else had anything similar happen to them
on LinkedIn and what you thought about it.

Anyway, thanks to all for your input.
