How much do you pay for your hotel valet? Especially if you in and out a few times a day.

$5 if you want them to "keep it close" when you drop it off so you can get it faster when youare ready to leave again.

Couple of bucks when they return the car.

I thought it took a $20 to get them to keep it close? but I don't usually tip on drop off, $5 on pick up. and just because you're in and out a few times a day doesn't mean you tip less each time.

    I tip $5 upon drop-off and pick-up. I think it's a helluva service, these guys don't stand inside where it's air-conditioned and comfortable.

I tip $1 both in and out. I tip more on the way out if I need the car quicker and if we have luggage and they flag over the bellman and handle luggage $1 a bag.

The only tip I can recommend is to walk around your car once before getting in to ensure they didn't ding you car.

$2 in and $2 - $5 out. This is everywhere, not just Vegas.

I do 5 in, 5 out. I knew a lot of valet fellas when I lived in Las Vegas, they bust their ass, plus, you're trusting them with your vehicle.

Here's how I look at it: When I'm in NYC, I'm paying 20-30 bucks to park and walk, same goes for Chicago and LA. In Austin here, I get off easy paying 7-10. I figure 10 bucks is a bargain considering you can walk right through the front door of your destination.

From every tipping etiquette advice I have come across, from local to afar (not just Vegas), $2-5 on return is appropriate for their hard working service, even if paying overnight for valet. If people want to tip more, by all means, give these hard working kids a reward. But tipping them less is not considered rude. Not tipping at all would be a rude gesture. With that many cars being parked, these hard working kids are not complaining about their work, assuming they get tipped something. They are probably making more than I do on good days.

We were in Vegas last July, 110 and thunderstorms with high humidity. I parked in a parking garage once and from then on everywhere we went we used a valet. Being only 15 feet away from A/C is kind of nice LOL.
I tipped about $5 each way. Not sure how they'd do it, hotter then hell and they'd take off running to get the car.:faint:

There have stories in recent years about parking attendants at some of the Vegas properties making large incomes. The articles threw around numbers like $150k a year. I'm sure that's the exception, and I don't remember all of the details. I just remember thinking that's a lot of money for parking cars.

$2 on dropoff, $3 on pickup. Pretty standard stuff.

I tip $3 - $5 on pickup and consider it a wise investment.
