I just finished his bio - written w/ Bob Zmuda.
( Bob Zmuda was his comedy partner/writer )
I was expecting a really bad book --
but found it very honest + interesting.
    .
I remember seeing Andy on early SNL shows ---
but I never saw him "live".
    I'll admit, I didn't really "get it".
When Andy did the "Mighty Mouse/ record player" bit -
    I didn't laugh........I did twist my head, though !
"What the hell is this ?"
Which is what Andy wanted from me, I suppose ?
    *
One of the interesting stories told in the book was ---
Andy was young + unknown ---
Went to see Elvis at The Hilton Las Vegas -
he had no money - was a huge Elvis fan --
he hid in an empty kitchen locker + waited for
Elvis to walk thru the kitchen.
    Andy was right.
he sees Elvis + jumps out of the locker -
Elvis' two bodyguards go to remove him
    Elvis says "Wait !"
They have a brief encounter - at the end of which -
Andy says "I'm going to be famous one day !"
Elvis said "Sure you are " and put his hand on Andy's shoulder.
    The King annoints him !

    ..... the story continues.....
Andy is now famous and playing a show in Memphis.
    Elvis is dead.
Andy + Bob go to Graceland....pay + stand on line.
An employee notices Andy + gives him a private tour.
    The curator tells Andy
"Elvis liked you best of all the impersonaters."
HOW"S THAT FOR "FULL CIRCLE" !!!!!!:nworthy:
Bob distracts the tour guide + Andy goes and takes
a dump in the throne where Elvis died.
    .
    Damn, funny story !

    LOL, that was classic Andy!

"Here I come to save the DAY!"

Of course I'm old enough to remember the original Mighty Mouse on Saturday morning cartoons.

Edit, if anyone has not seen this, surf here:

I remember Andy on Taxi, he was surreal, which I loved.

    Great story.
I'm having a little trouble w/ Bob Zmuda's recollection of Andy going upstairs to Elvis's room. I've been to Graceland 3X. Twice in the 1980's and the 3rd time in 2008.
On all 3 occasions they were very protective of the upstairs. They didn't want anyone going up there. In the 80's there was a family member living up there. My first
visit was in 1986 and it was run like a tight ship! After some research it's possible they were still tweaking things since Graceland opened 2 years before Andy's death.

Never saw his show live, I didn't "get" his comedy. But, I did like Man on the Moon with Jim Carrey.
