Any suggestions as to which hotel to stay at downtown for a couple guys in there late 20's? Looking for a fun place, & are only staying the night of Aug 22nd, until we move to the strip for 2 free nights at Planet Holleywood. We like BEER  , craps, blackjack & video poker....

    Thanks.

The 4queens should put you in the middle of the action. If you were a downtown regular I would say something different, but for a newby try the 4queens.

I've been downtown a few times, but never stayed overnight. Usually its just to see the fremont st experience with friends & do a little gambling. I am actually very excited for smaller table limits. Anyone know where there might be a $3 craps or blackjack game going?

The fremont has a $3 table as does the el-cortez, you can find $5 tables with decent rules everywhere(except maybe the nugget). Beware, there is 6/5 BJ downtown, mainly at the entertainer dealer tables, avoid them.

We've stayed downtown several times, the D (when it was Fitzgeralds), 4 Queens, and Golden Nugget. The GN had the nicest rooms. Because of the closeness of the casinos downtown, you can pretty much stay at any of them and easily walk to other casinos to try their beer and craps. Have a good time!

Maybe ask for a room away from FSE if noise keeps you awake.

Stay at The D. Non-stop party, and caters to 20s and 30-somethings.

This not a hotel recommendation, just other things.

Main Street Station has $5 craps with 20X odds. They also have 9/6 JOB. They make their own beer and usually have about 6-8 flavors on tap in the brewpub. The main casino bar only has 4 on tap, but they are only ~$2 per ~pint glass. Free of course if you are playing +tip:poke:
.99 margaritas also at the main bar.

Four Queens also has 9/6 JOB and they also have some very good brews from the Chicago Brewing Co on tap. It's made in Vegas.
Fremont has $2 Heinekens, Cal had a special $2 Stella Dora.

If they are looking to share a room, I agree.

If you're young and mobile and full of energy location won't matter that much, and you proably won't spend a lot of time in the room. I'd try the for a Tower Two Queens roon at the El Cortez. Right now you can snag it for $25 for that night on EasyClickTravel. Save the rest of your money for BEER, craps, blackjack and vp. ;)

As an added bonus this forces you to wander through Fremont East going between the canopy and your hotel. Lots of cool bars in this area, if you want some drinks when you're not gambling.

I've stayed at several downtown before (the "D", the el cortez, Fremont hotel).

I don't have a very strong preference among the three. the el cortez's quality may have been just a little bit lower.

I have a handy little video showing what you could expect in the room.

Another for the D. It's the only downtown hotel that really goes after your age group. The El Cortez is trying to without abandoning their hardcore gamblers and it makes for an eclectic mix, especially on weekends. Golden Nugget is obviously the nicest hotel downtown, but it still draws more of a middle-aged crowd. Everyone else downtown trends older.

Mind you, the best part about being downtown is that everything is only a couple of blocks away, so your options are completely open no matter where you stay.

If you like beer - stay at Main Street downtwon - they have a microbrewery on the premises - and the beer is good and free when you play. Also - the craps tables are as big as an aircraft carrier - the largest tables I've seen in Vegas.
