What are the newer restaurants downtown?

We have been downtown twice. Both time ate at a bit of a rundown dingy place.

One place only had 5 people. Me, my wife, the homeless guy and his two invisible friends he was talking to.

I am looking to try downtown again for a few hours but hesitant unless there is a good clean place with good food.

What are the newer places or just a clean place with good food that would be open for lunch?

 

You've been on this board for a while so I take this as a legit post, but seriously? And where did you eat that was so bad, you went a second time?

As far as clean...look for their letter rating on the way into the restaurant and don't eat anywhere with a rating less than A but I don't think you'll find one.

Every casino downtown has lunch options and I'll bet every one has an A rating. Restaurants have a surprise visit from the Vegas Health Dept about every two weeks and that also includes casino bars. Their rating has to be clearly posted.

I do know Du Pars inside Golden Gate has had some issues, but they are back to an A rating last I checked 2 weeks ago.

Chicago Brewing Co. upstairs at Four Queens.
Market St Cafe inside The Cal.

I'm not much more than a breakfast buffet person, but the lunch buffets at Main Street & Fremont are reasonably priced and decent.

 

We ate at two different places and both were a bit run down and bad. We didn't go back to the same place twice. It has been 5+ years since we last were downtown so I don't recall names.

 

Thanks for the leads. As long as I have some names it gives me something to research.

 

What sort of food are you looking for? Beer and pizza? Mexican? Thai? Healthy? Gluttonous?

if you want newer, there's a Denny's downtown now.

In terms of other lunch options, there's probably a couple dozen viable options along and near Fremont St. Everything from Mickey D's to a bit upscale like Triple George Grill.

On a side note, I probably liked and miss the place you didn't like. Mamacito's?

I was fortunate enough to hit the last Pop-Up-Get-Down Fried Chicken dinners and what was awesome was that it was almost encouraged you bring your own beverages. (They even pointed out there was a wine store across the street). Not sure if that applies to the daily service but the food was good and the atmosphere of community and feeling welcome was very apparent.

7. Triple George (perhaps the most sophisticated)

Park on Fremont, Radio City Pizza and Comida all recently opened. I've only gotten over to Radio City so far. I do not recommend it. Better NY style can be had at Pop Up Pizza inside Plaza. Customer service was terrible.

Eat is very good, though I recommend it more for breakfast/brunch than lunch.

 

I second Le Thai. And the new steakhouse at the D is intriguing to me.

 

I've been eating at many Downtown places over several years and have never had experiences like you unfortunately had. Though you can't remember where you found these dingy, undesirable places, I think you must have picked the Western and the Gold Spike out of all the possible choices. I never ate at either of these places, but non of the other choices fit your description IMO.

 

Its not a newer resturant, but Aloha Specialties always has good food. Love the saimin over there. Prices are reasonable.
