    My Trip Report

My very first Trip Report. If you aren't reading this, that means I chickened out and hit the delete button. Well, here we go . . . .

To-N-From: We flew Southwest as always. This trip started Sunday, April 14th till Saturday, April 20th. Our flight left St. Louis at 8:30 am, arriving in Las Vegas at 10:00 am. Uneventful. The peanuts were exceptionally good, all eight of them. We used Bell Trans Shuttle to MSS. Our shuttle was full of Strip stayers, except for us. Therefore, we were the LAST dropped off. Long trip. For the return to the airport, Bell Trans gave us a 4:00 pm pick-up time for our 6:00 pm flight home ~ fine, if they took use straight to the airport; not fine if there are five stops along the way! This trip took 60 minutes! By now, I'm a little stressed. Still have to check our bags, go through security and walk half-way home before we get to our gate. Oh yeah, and get something to eat. Bell Trans will not see me again, nor would I recommend them. They had their second chance. On a previous trip they were a no-show (dispatcher confused am & pm ~ ooops).

ACCOMMODATIONS: Main Street Station for six nights, five of which were comped. Even with our early arrival, our room was ready. Yay! Dropped off the bags, quick unpack, and hit the casino. Room was fine (facing the highway). Only minor complaint about MSS rooms is not much counter space in bathroom, at least for us. Maybe we're over toiletried.

WEATHER: Was unseasonably cold. I came from the unseasonably cold Midwest to the unseasonably old desert! Thought I would warm up un LV ~ wrong! Although, it did warm up a bit the day before we came home.

FOOD, FOOD, FOOD: We tend to eat where we are playing when we get hungry. Had several meals at MSS and California, because it doesn't cost us. My husband always has to have a breakfast at Jerry's Nugget, north of downtown. Meh. We ate at Cafe Cortez as usual because we have BOGOs and use our points for the rest of the bill. The not-very-good cafe at Joker's Wild fed us once. We went to Skyline in Henderson two mornings for breakfast. Very good and a nice way to start the day. One full-out Mexican dinner at El Dorado (I'm still full from that one). And, we ate at Chicago Brewing for the first time, very good.

THE GAMBLING: I will preface this with info about the caliber of gambling we do, low rollers but we do a lot of it. We play quarter video poker. We both enjoy Joker's Wild VP in additional to the traditional VP games. I also like nickel games, such as Multi-Strike, Ultimate-X, Times Play and Spin Poker. It was my husband's turn to shine this trip by hitting THREE Quarter Royals. A Joker Poker Royal for $1175 at MSS, plus RFs at Fremont and Skyline. We both did very good at El Cortez. EC got me started by sending me $50 FP for my birthday.

ODDS-N-ENDS: A couple of fun things happened this trip. I won a $25 cash drawing at Skyline, and my husband won a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to Mariana's Cantina at El Dorado. We found out it is impossible for two people to eat $50 worth of Mexican food, even if you doggy-bag the carrot cake and chocolate raspberry cake.

THE END: Now we will see if I submit this. Oh, what the heck...............

Hey... great report! Sounds like a good trip, except for the minor transportation issues and colder weather, but in my book the three-(3), count 'em 3, RF's make-up for it all!!! Thanks for sharin'

Don't you just love the skyline?? Went there for the first time last year and just loved the quiet atmosphere. I think we also got Steak and eggs in the diner for just a few dollars.

Congrats on the royals. That's a VP players dream trip!

Thank you! I enjoyed your report!!

Great report, as a VP player myself, love hearing about the RF of course. And also liked hearing about Skyline, a place I had never heard of before, will have to check it out. Thanks, good job!

    Good report. Thanks!

I can't figure out how you got to those places like Jerry's Nugget, Skyline, etc. without a car.

Robert M ~ ah ha, a glitch in my report. I forgot to mention our car rental. The first two days were spent Downtown on foot. The third day we rented from Advantage Car Rental at MSS for the remainder of the trip. So easy at the hotel. The car's there and the drop-off's there. We didn't care much for the Consolidated Car Rental concept. To each their own.

I'm still catching up on the board posts. Great going on the Royals. I am so jealous and I enjoyed the report!

There is a discount at Advantage Rental at MSS when you use your B Connected. Not much, I think the Emerald only gets 10% off and not sure what the other cards get, but still...

Thank you for not "chickening out" and posting a great report. Nice on the wins, sucks on the transportation.

Thanks to all for your kind comments.

pugsammy & travelfiend: We go to Skyline every trip to LV. It's frequented by locals, such as "The Two Carols". One Carol told me she played the same machine for 15.5 hours once, started with $10 and cashed out $175. It's small and quiet, and has a lot of video poker which we enjoy. The restaurant is quite a bargain and friendly, nice for quiet dining. Try it, you may like it!

Joe: About the discount on Advantage at MSS ~ I'm Sapphire and the discount is 7%; I think Ruby is 5%. But every little bit helps put more in the gambling bankroll.

Excellent RSF hits (I'm still stuck at 1 lifetime, and I am DUE for number 2).

Wouldn't have expected the Skyline love here as I wouldn't have guessed so many posters have visited there, but I also liked the casino, the employees and drink service, and the excellent full pay VP offerings (DW, DB & JOB). I hope to make it back this August (and try a few others in the area including Eldorado and Wildfire. I like gambling at Jerry's Nugget, but never have eaten there.

Thanks for posting and congratulations on your fun 3 RSF trip!

Glad you didn't chicken out. The ride back to the airport would have me stressed. Congrats on the royals!!
