I know that it costs more to go via the tunnel. No question there.

On our last trip, comped limo to Vdara - driver took tunnel.
Return trip, comped from Mirage at 6am, driver took tunnel.

On another recent trip, can not remember details, but comp limo also took tunnel.

Trip before that, comp limo to Aria went via Tunnel.

No discussion with driver on any of those trips.

    Hmmm???

My comp limo took the tunnel last time too -- to Monte Carlo. I just think they do it because it's faster.

The tunnel is a little quicker, that's why. Very few people would want a $20 fare to turn into a $35 fare to save 4 min however.

I have a question about the comped limos from hotels; the ARIA limo will pick us up on our next trip and I was wondering if the drivers are allowed any leeway such as driving on the Strip or stopping at a store. Or since it is a comp is it a 'straight to the hotel' ride? Thanks for any help/advice.

I think the tunnel is faster for limos on that side of the Strip because they can usually access the properties from the rear in ways a taxi cannot. If you have ever been longhauled through the tunnel by a taxi (and I have, on multiple occassions) then you know it costs more for the taxi to go that route rather than Paradise

We're taking a limo next week and am actually asking for the tunnel. Never seen it.

the freeway is always quicker to anywhere north of MGM. BTW i've never really understood why everyone calls it "the tunnel" when that's only one tiny part of the drive. what you really are talking about is taking the freeway or not.

I'm getting a rental car for the first time and we are headed to Luxor. Is it best to take the tunnel or avoid it? (since its north of MGM?)

I'm just worried abt bumper to bumper traffic. Every time I see the strip, it looks like everyone is crawling excruciatingly slowly on it. To the point where on our last trip, I walked rather than hopping on the Deuce even with a free bass pass because the Deuce was moving so slowly.

The freeway is not the only issue. You can take the freeway, to go downtown for example, by taking Trop to 1-15. Taking the tunnel involves driving in the wrong direction, which is why it's so clearly a long haul.

And I've been caught in bad traffic before on 1-15, so while I'd agree that it's often quicker I'm not sure it's "always" quicker.

I sure hope you are not the one driving! Luxor is South of MGM. :rolleyes2:

Some of the rental car companies are off site from the airport, so your route may differ depending on who you rent with. The Luxor is so close, that even bumper to bumper and you'll be there in lress than a half hour at most! Possibly even 20 minutes!

ROFL - I know that!!! (ok ok - in my secret life I'm so blonde, I glow in the dark). And I take great comfort that DH is driving - and I'll be able to amuse myself giving him the wrong directions.

Why would anyone care if it's a comped limo?
