For some reason, this one bothers me something fierce. It makes me feel like I am dealing with a juvenile, and not an adult. Do you find them cute (as I THINK they are intended to be) or irritating.

Some of the ones that jump out at me:
    Buffy
    Addy
    Ressie

It could be that it bothers me so much because I have a coworker that sends emails to the entire team addressed to "Kidderoos" and ending with "Huggles" that is always full of these made up abbreviations. Somedays I want to scream, I AM NOT A KIDDEROO! I am old enough to be your father! Whew, got that off my chest if nothing else.... :)

My ex wife insisted on being called K.

She would get made if someone wrote it out Kay. She would make them change it to just the letter K and berate them like they were stupid for not knowing. her name wasnt even Kay, it was Kathy.

SEE, no one else likes it either. Dropped from a high of 612 to a low of 15435, although it is making a comeback ;)

I dislike use of texting abbreviations when used in an email or when posting on a message board. It's hard for me to read. I understand people type on their phones or ipads and don't want to take the time to type full words, but it still bothers me.

I do a lot of editing at work and have to tell/ask people all the time to make sure they write out the full meaning of an acronym the first time it's used. And no, acronyms don't bother me as much as abbreviations for no reason. Though they can be very hard to follow.....

OMG I totz luv da cray-cray post da bestest.

And I'm a grown up who says "potty". It's the command for my dog because I couldn't say "do your business". :haha: I also announce to my husband that "I'm going pee pee in the potty" because it makes him cringe.

Flushie, you might be jelly, but I say go potty too. Although it may be related to the people I spend my days around. It bleeds into my regular life.
