    My Trip Report

    Vegas? Yes please!

So the bf decided his 13 hour days at work suck, and booked a weekend trip to Vegas for the final four/ final college basketball weekend. We were not planning a trip out until late July, so I had not been saving for a decent bankroll, but oh well, lets go!

    Paris Red Room? OUI!

Checked my offers and ended up using one that was a free room and a cruise offer thru Norwegian cruises. My BF will NOT get on a boat, but I figured maybe he would change his mind. You could only book the trip over the phone and not online, WTH? So I called and booked. Scored a Red Room at Paris. Mountain view, but we had never stayed there so I figured I would give it a shot. The standard room at Paris looks like my grandmas house, so I was all for the Red Room. The BF wanted to stay at Bally's because he loves watching games there. I could not bring myself to stay there after being spoiled in an Octavius tower room last summer at Caesars. I decided Paris was a perfect option with the walkway to Bally's.

    Uneventful Travel

The trip out was uneventful. Flight was on time, no drama other than the older woman with diarrhea of the mouth that sat in the aisle seat next to me. We had both worked the night before and out flight out was at 8 am, and we just both wanted to sleep. As soon as she sat down, chatty cathy started telling me about her trip, how she was going to see her daughter, blah, blah, blah, blah. Omg, how do I nicely shut her up???? I finally turned toward the bf and put my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes when she took a minute to breathe. She seemed disapointed, but oh well, mama needed sleep.

    Damn Cabbie

For the first time ever, we got longhauled! I couldn't believe it. Usually they ask which way we want to go, and we tell them Koval. This Russian prick just asked what hotel, and before we knew it, we were in the tunnel. AARRRGGHH!:grrr::grrr::grrr: The bf was fuming. I think it ended up being a $27 cab ride up the strip on a Sat afternoon. We literally sat three cars back from the hotel waiting to turn in for about 5 minutes.

    Ooo La La

Paris still has a platinum check in que, so we got checked in in lightening speed and went up to the room. I for whatever reason forgot to take pictures of the room, or anything this trip. Not sure why. It was a very nice, clean room. We freshened up, and hit the casino. We had lunch at the Sidewalk cafe at Bally's. Good cheap food. We were on a tight schedule, as the game started at 3 ish and the bf had bets to make at Bally's. We have a friend who lives in Vegas who was meeting us at the book. I had no intentions of watching a basketball game on my first day in Vegas, so I left the boys to it, and headed to the casino!

    I Love You Sparticus

I fell in love with the Colossal reel machines last summer at Caesars. They are a hoot. I went up the escalator from the Bally's book and found a bank of them on my way back to Paris. I sat at a Sparticus machine, got a Malibu and pineapple, and sat back and played. AAAHHHHH. I did well on the machine and was up, and down, betting a dollar a spin. As I said, I had a short BR this trip and only had $300 a day for playing. I ended up dropping about $200 in the machine. I looked at the time and I had been playing for about four hours. Oops. I hit for $100, and got up and went to the ladies room. Came back and my machine was still open. I saw this as an omen so I sat back down. My phone rang at this time. Crap! It was the bf. He is such a buzz kill. He wanted me to take a break and come to the book and chill for a while. I said I would be down in a few minutes. In me gambling speak, this could be anywhere from a half hour to three hours. I needed to burn thru the twenty I had in there, so just a few more spins. I hit a bonus for $150. I was up $50 for five hours of gambling, but my tier score was climbing. I had hit the 500 point bonus for an extra 125. Cool.

    Bally's Book

Bally's book has the best bartender ever, Po. We always visit him when we are there. I said hi on my way past, and he remembers my name. Love him! Told my bf of my run, and he rolled his eyes as he does, and made me stay put for a while. I watched the end of the second game with them to shut him up. I sat and had a few beers with them. Our friend said goodbye, and we went walking. We walked up to the Quad to check it out. (A little side story. My bf always stayed at the Quad before I came along. He is a sports bettor and used to play a little blackjack. They never gave him room offers so he always stayed at the IP. In fact, it was where we stayed on my first trip out.) He wanted to see the changes.

    Holy Quad

This is not the IP anymore. It doesn't even look like the same place. I'm sure the rooms do, LOL but we didn't recognize anything. It is all chrome and modern. Even the dealertainers look shinier for some reason! The only piece left in the building that let me know I was in the IP was the old escalator going up to the book and buffet. We were shocked to pay $14 for two beers at the bar. Guess they have to pay for all of that chrome somehow.

We walked thru Harrahs and played a little. I was secretly hoping to see Toby Keith but he was not there. Back to Paris. Played a little and hit the room. We were beat. Hopefully the sun would be out Sunday. I needed some pool action!

Sweet trip review, sorry about the long haul. Next time it happens, tell the cab driver you see what he did as you are going through. It doesn't set a good vibe, but I think it deters future use of the long hauling technique. You can then pay $16 when you get there. Sheesh, what a scam!

    Good luck in July!

    Sunday Day Deux
Well, cloudy again. Drats! We have had a five month long winter full of snow and I NEED sun! The BF got up to shower and I went downstairs to smoke. He does not smoke so we always get a non smoking room. I sat at a Van Helsing machine and put in twenty while I was down there. Hit for $35 and ran it back thru. Jumped down one to a Lil Red machine and hit for $50. Next thing I knew, the BF was standing over my shoulder. "You gonna shower today?" He sneaks up on me like nobody's business. So I cashed out and went up to shower.

    The Elusive Steak Sandwich
The BF woke up NEEDING a steak sandwich. He would not even entertain the idea of anything else. (If you read my last trip report, he is Fred Flinstone and ate his whole 35 ounce prime rib and some of mine at the Old Homestead) We stopped and read the door menus at Bally's, Paris, PHO and none of them had a steak sandwich. We were heading to MGM area and he commanded that we would look there.

    Yee Haw
I love country music so I was very excited to see that the country music awards were out there when I was. I secretly hope to meet Toby Keith one day. (We eat at Toby's I love this bar and Grill every trip out) We decided to hit MGM and NYNY today and get a little country on. We made the walk down to the far end of the strip. It did not seem as bad this time. I think the new escalator helped some. We went to NYNY because the BF hits on a quick hits playboy machine every time there. I think he hit for $75 or so. I dumped a quick $100 on random stupid machines. I then kicked myself because it hit me that I should have saved my money for a CET property, because M life never shows me any love. We went to the Sporting House and looked at their menu and they had a steak sandwich, thank god. I got the sloppy joe sliders. For some odd reason, these were the only pics I took the whole trip.

    MGM What No Red Carpet
I would think that having a televised event, they would have some sort of red carpet, but not that we found. We saw a lot of normal people walking around in cowboy hats and boots, but no stars. Screw it, I decided and found the next best thing...a Michael Jackson machine. At least MGM was playing country music. I dumped a hundo in and played for an hour or two. Hit a lot of bonuses, so I had fun but zero'd out. Damn. The BF showed up with a ticket for $450 he won on a Deal or No Deal machine. REALLY? He went off to cash in while I finished my last $18 bleedout. The BF refuses to use the ticket machines. He likes being paid at the cage. I don't want to wait in line, but hey whatever tripps his trigger. He finally wandered back and we headed back to Paris.

    Darn Bankroll
I made an excuse to hit the room, and hit up my bankroll for monday. A big no no, but he should not have let me know the combo to the safe. I am not a good money manager when it comes to my bankroll. Thats why he is my money man.

    Gems and Red
The BF fell in love with the Gems multi game at the Horseshoe at home, and I had found one with a Lil Red right next to it. I decided then we could play together for a while at Bally's. I was betting $1.00 a spin and holding my own. He was betting around. I was getting lots of bonuses and playing for a long time. Hit the tier bonus for the extra 125 again. I was up about $100 and decided to up my bet for a few spins as the machine was hot. I was betting $2.00 a spin and hit a bonus for $250! Yay! He had gotten up and was wandering. He always misses when I have a good bonus. Suddenly he was over my shoulder with a ticked for $200. He hit on another Deal or No Deal. He went to cash in, and I kept playing. And drinking. The waitress was on it tonight. The BF came back and said he was heading to play at Paris. I told him that I would be right there. The machine started cooling off but I didn't see it. Put most of it back in and chased. Damn! Cashed out at about $150 with $60 left of my own $300.

    Drunk Gambling Bad
Stumbled over to Paris mad at myself and randomly threw $20's in machines and continued my bad juju. Wasn't feeling it at Paris and should have gone to bed. Bled out finally betting 30 cents a spin on some Zeus machine. Went upstairs and the BF was snoring.

Great TR... I guess all us slot players are alike...Funny you mention the MJ machines at the MGM. Last time I was there I was so excited to play them and nothing...barely any bonuses and the ones I did get were those awful ones where you're lucky to win your bet back after spins and spins and all sorts of noises.

I hope you did not pay for the tunnel trip! I'm prsonally convinced that is the only way these unscrupulous cabbies will ever learn

    Day Trois
We got up for the day and the BF had been in the safe and knew I blew my stash. He gave me $200 to play with "AFTER THE GAME". He had our day all planned out. First betting at Bally's book, then dinner, then game, then slots.

    Go Blue
The BF was all in for Michigan for the final. He had them for a $100 bet at 10 to 1 odds from before the sweet 16. He was feeling good about them to win. I tried to tell him I liked Louisville but of course I don't know anything. He had me make a bet for him. He was pissed that Bally's was very stingy with their drink tickets. He only got 2 for a $600 bet the day before. He had me place one and he placed two. We went out the side door and made the walk to Ellis Island.

    BBQ Time
Ellis Island has great BBQ. We went the last two times in Vegas. The only caveat is it is only open after 4pm. And you have to have a players card to get the discount. You have to sign in at the diner and go to a kiosk to print off the discount with your players card. It is worth it though. 1/2 chicken, corn, beans, slaw, and garlic bread for $8.99. I think the ribs were $13.99. All I know is the BF and his friend were making grunting noises while they ate, so I assume it was good.

    Game Time
Our friend parked at Bally's employee lot, (as an ex Bills employee) so on the way back to Bally's he said his goodbyes and went on his way. We went to the book and got seats at the bar to watch the game. Po was on duty, so I got his signature drink, the Po-vert. It is a mix of rum, vodka, and juices. Very good and very big. I settled in to play video poker and watch the bf watch sports. $20.00 at a quarter bet went a long way during the game. I hit a couple of quads while I was playing, and Po kept the drinks coming.

    Boo Michigan
Well, Michigan lost and the BF lost a chunk of money. We headed up to Paris to gamble. I got two drinks to go, which was NOT a good idea. I felt great as I sat there, but once we got up I got drunkity, drunk, drunk, drunk. I sat at a Lil Red machine and hit for $50. I went to see where the BF was, and sat down on the machine beside him. I put twenty in the machine and hit spin a few times. Needless to say the spinning of the wheels made me dizzy and I felt like I was going to puke. (later he told me that I instantly turned white as a ghost) I told him to play my money and that I would be right back.

    Hello Ladies Room

I made it to the ladies room and could not for the life of me puke. I was in there for what felt like an eternity bowing to the porcelain god with no luck. Every time I tried to get up I felt sick all over again. I honestly don't know how long I was in there, but next thing I knew, some giggling girls came in calling my name. The BF had sent reinforcements. I was so sick though and they were laughing at me, so I didn't or couldn't answer. Thank god the Paris bathroom was very clean, because I was full on laying on the toilet. I finally decided I didn't want to die in there alone, so I gathered up my gumption and made the long walk to the room.

    Longest Hallway in the World
The room was the last one at the end of the hall. The houndstooth carpet was making me dizzy, and I swear that the hall got longer the more I walked. I saw the BF at the end of the hall, and yelled, "Open the door!" I made it to the room and spent the next hour or so in the bathroom. He went back downstairs to gamble, and brought me back a pop. I finally threw up whatever was in my feet, and went to sleep with the garbage can in the spare queen bed.

    Never Again
I was so sick all morning, and we had to fly home today. Urrrggghhh. I love sweets and just looking at the deserts in the Patissaire, I got the dry heaves. I did however have $180 left to gamble with. I just drank water while the BF had a pastry and we did pretty good on our way out. He hit on a gems machine for $400 and I hit for $60 and for the first time left Vegas with money! It felt good. We headed for the airport and did not get longhauled this time. We ate at the BK at the airport, and I felt better. We flew through a big storm and had a terrible flight of turbulance for about an hour, but made it home safe.

    Home Sweet Home
All in all it was a fun trip, and if anything too short. I started the trip with 462 tier points and after 3 1/2 days I left at 2515. Not too bad with a $1200 bankroll I think. Cant wait for the summer trip. Starting to plan now. Moral of the story, don't drink and spin...its bad news. LOL

Sounds like a great trip, especially that you came back with some money. Shame about feeling bad on the last night and day. I get so annoyed with myself when that happens.

Nice report, as a tip for a good steak sandwich in the Paris area, hit Sugar Factory. I keep hearing we are supposed to be getting a Toby Keith's in NE Ohio, but no word on whether that's still the case or when.

Had to laugh at this. Not sure how long is your flight but ours is 5 hours to/from Vegas.
I use the Bose noise cancelling headset and only hear my music. My wife on the other hand was caught a few times having to hear people go nonstop for 5 hours. She wonders how they breath because they never shut-up.

I have been borderline a few time but only because my wife won't let me sleep in.

Not sure about the lady's room in Paris but the men's room is similar to NYNY with full doors.
If I were to get sick that is the place to be.

Thanks for the trip report. I did a quick walk through Paris on my last trip and decided I would try it next time.
