I stayed at the Venetian several months ago. Paid for two suites, meals, a show for four nights. I opened a credit line for $75,000 but never used it there. Did next to no gambling in the casinos. Couple months ago i received a note and business card from a Player Host there. I called, they want to offer a very nice suite for several nights, food credit and over $1,000 in free play. My question is how much gambling are they expecting from me? What level of betting? Sounds like a great deal but I do not want accept all the free things if I going to upset the folks there with not enough qualified play. Still trying to decide if I going to accept the deal.

What can you lose? I would call the host and find out.

Considering you didn't really play last time, I don't think can have very high expectations. Seems they are willing to take some risk based on you LOC. Take the offer and go from there.

Take the offer. You should be fine.

Why did you open a credit line that big if you aren't really a player? Yea, if you take the offer they will "expect" you to play, if you dont play enough they wont give you any more offers. You really dont have anything to lose. Sounds like you have plenty of money and dont mind spending it, it's poor form to take a comp if you have no intention of giving decent play(unless if you're getting even for some previous slight).

To me, that looks like a business decision on their end, not a risk on yours. If you feel like going back and don't plan on playing more than the $1,000 FP then so be it. They can't force you to gamble, and you shouldn't play for the comps to begin with. If they make a bad bet, they make a bad bet, but I will tell you what, they didn't build those casinos on people winning money so don't feel too bad for taking them up on it and not living up to their expectations.

You could also be blacklisted from future offers if you do it, just a heads up.

Just as an avg based on your line they would be expecting about $1500 avg bet at BJ or Bacc for 4 hours a day.

    Appreciate the responses

To those of you that responded to my concern here is a little more detail. I set up that line of credit to see if I generated any interest. Apparently, it did in this case. When I play it is 21 and roulette, average play $100 per hand. If I accept this comp I fully intend on playing at least four hours a day at their casino. I might increase my level some but not at $1,500 per play as one person pointed out. Thanks again.

A $75k LOC is serious overkill for $100/hand play. I'm sure they're expecting much bigger play from you like the numbers shifter stated but as others have said go ahead and use the offer if you want.

I do imagine they'll be pretty peeved you opened up a line that was like 10x more than you'd need. I'd be interested in hearing from those who know better what the downsides there are of doing something like that.

I don't think there are any downsides, besides not being able to get comps at that property again. The OP can probably hit all the casinos this way before they drop his line, since casinos use a central credit service to see what your line is at other properties, and they'll all probably offer him something similar...until his lines get dropped and he gets blacklisted.

Just keep one or two favorite properties that you don't do this at, and you'll still have casinos to go to...

Why not just go for the room and not use the free play or food credits. This way if they ask you can say you didn't want to give the wrong message about your level.

    agree:

    * $75K is overkill for $100/hand BJ
    * little harm in taking an offer, but...
    * ...if you do not play a reasonable level, you will not get more offers.

    disagree:

    * $1,500 avg bet on BJ expected

I think you would need about $500 avg BJ bet @ 4+ hours a day to meet their expectations.

Remember everyone, the house advantage on roulette is MUCH higher than BJ, even 10-20 times as high depending on what version of each game you are playing. If he is spending any length of time playing black chips at roulette, this will be looked at very favorably for comp purposes.

If you take the offer (and I would), take the whole offer including F&B and free play. If they don't like your action they won't invite you back.

    Nate,
I don't understand why they would drop lines based on low play. Just because someone doesn't play to the level of their LOC, doesn't mean they won't do it next time. He's good for the money, I think it would be in the Casinos best interest to keep him coming back. They really aren't offering him much upfront. I get similar offers all the time with no open lines. I would imagine most people's avg bet increases with every trip providing their financial situation allows for it.
    The casino knows that.

Wouldn't they cut or get rid of his line if his betting was nowhere near enough to need such a line? They're not a bank. I think they're smart enough to know that people who open up big lines but play small are either trying to get comps or might be trying to use them as a bank to draw money out of for other purposes. The poster admitted he did it in order to get comps -- lo and behold it worked!

I didnt know they use a central credit system, OP, why not see if another casino will give you a good offer that may not put so much pressure on?

Would never ever let something go. They are not your friend and will treat you better next time because you were "nice enough" to not use these perks.

Take the offer. Play as you want to play. Let the chips land where they land.

    The rest of the story

Again, I appreciate everyone's thoughts on this situation. I decided to contact my host and ask what the expectation was of my play. I really would not have enjoyed myself if in the back of my mind I was concerned of having an issue with my play. I went over my play which I will step up somewhat depending how it goes. I told them I would give an average of at least four hours a day at the tables. The important thing to them was first my line of credit. He shared with me that is what triggered everything and that I play roulette the most. It being the greatest ratio for the house put me into another tier of comps available. I told them if they wanted to take back or adjust the offer I understood.

He told they are good with all the comps offered. Just come in and play at the level I am comfortable with and enjoy the property.

I believe one of the first responses to my question was most right in that they know I have some money so they want to see if they can shake some of it free. If I am not at their property they do not get the chance. Just a simple business decision.

One more note in letting them know on my play I told them I never bid over $500 on a single play. So, in this instance the suggestion of my having to play $1,500 per hand was not accurate. Based on all this I going to go and see how it all works out. Thanks again.

Take all that shit and zero play their asses. Better yet play one $1,500 hand, win it and play $10/hand the other 4 hours. Tell them you thought they meant highest bet not average. Play dumb.

It's V/P, screw them like they screwed so many here. Move on. There's better props and service around. After you take all their free stuff and they complain, tell them "This one is for Natedog you mo fo's"!

I think you did the right thing. Now you can go an enjoy your comp and the property without worrying.
