Hi all, I'll be heading to Vegas for the first time next month with my wife and would like some advice on hotels. Is it preferable to get a normal king room at the bellagio or a suite at a lower property, say maybe Mirage.
It is a long flight there and since it's more 9 nights, we would Like our first Vegas experience to be as 'Vegas' as possible!
Any suggestions on where to stay for around $300 a night?

Based on your other post you should easily get your room comped. I would call a host at both properties and ask what they can do for you upfront.

Cosmopolitan Wraparound Terrace Suite! Haven't stayed there yet :( but I just booked a trip there at the beginning of August for $280 a night, it looks awesome! :)

We wanted a "vegas style experience" too and nothing to me says slightly over the top on a budget than a 1,200 sqft room with a 500 sqft wraparound balcony at the newest strip property for $280 a night. Not sure what more you could really as for :) :peace:

I would second the Cosmo suggestion. My wife and I just got back from a trip where we stayed in a Terrace Suite and it was AWESOME!!! We have stayed at the vast majority of the properties in Vegas and this experience was by far the best!

If the rest of your budget is in line with your room budget, I’d recommend going with a “standard” room at a top tier joint. In addition to having the nicer fixtures, décor and linens etc. in the room, those “luxuries” will carry over into the entire property. You’ll have nicer restaurants, bars, spa, pools, common areas, etc. And the service will be a little more attentive as well. Plus, some of the “standard” rooms at the top tier places are just as big as the smaller suites at the mid tier places.

Obviously, everything is going to cost a little more at the nicer places. But, unless you’ve allocated the lion’s share of your budget to getting the best possible room – at the expense of other things – you ought to be fine.

You didn't ask, but I'd recommend Wynn. Get a room on the Tower side if you want a little better service and occasional peace and quite away from "Vegas".

Thanks Shifter, i'll be emailing a few hotels and see if i can get any offers. Am so glad i can get free rooms just based on my normal betting habits.

I heard about the cosmo Wraparound suites but was under the impression it'll cost a lot more than $280, thus didn't check them out. However i heard they might not be as generous with comps for low-mid level players.

Wynn is probably out as it seems kind of far from other hotels.

Look into the terrace suite as well as someone else mentioned. If you are only staying there as a couple and not throwing a party i actually prefer it over the wraparound. Great for a longer stay, all terrace suite has great view over B lake, big fridge, microwave, washer dryer and cost less then the wraparound.

Also i think Wynn location isnt all that bad. I think it was pretty bad when it opened but now when Encore and Palazzo next to it and fashion show mall across the street its actually good. I think its much nicer and quieter part of the strip and no people flipping with those escort cards. The location is mostly bad if you are looking for low limit gambling but otherwise i think its good. And dont forget that u are staying at the best resort on the strip which is pretty good by itself.

I'm new here but not new to Vegas (hi all). For a trip of 9 days from Hong Kong i would choose a nice room at Caesars Palace (anything other than Roman Tower) for sure. The property is comfortable. Lots of dining and shopping choices and the spa is one of the best. The pools are nice too. Second recommendation would be Venetian. I chose these two because they are large fun properties with plenty to do. It is a long stay so variety is nice.

Also, Caesars and Venetian have always been generous to us with their comps.

With 9 days, I would consider doing two different hotels. Get to experience different things.

I would also pull up one of the large travel sites and get an idea what is being charged on your dates. You may find some days are double or triple the cost of the day before. It goes like that in Vegas.

I would also recommend 2 hotels since that is such a long trip. Yes, you can stay anywhere you want.

Maybe check something north strip like Venetian or Palazzo or Wynn/Encore those are nice. Or maybe a tower suite at Mirage?

Then south strip or mid strip. Aria or Cosmo or Bellagio are good options, but yes, Cosmo is usually much more than everything else, you can probably get a better value elsewhere.

Do you have exact dates? We could price it out better.. May is a fairly pricey month especially on the weekends.

I would be staying from the 22-31st May, and have considered staying at 2 properties to keep things 'fresh'.
Is it advisable to book straight through the hotels is it not? This is because i hope to have the host comp us some nights off and read that it is not possible for them to do that if i book through an external website.
I would probably book a standard room at bellagio for 4nights and then a suite elsewhere for next 5 nights.
Is it better to book MGM Properties for both stays to be able to get a better deal through comps or does it not matter at all?

If you are going to do two different hotels i think its best to do 2 different parts of the strip to mix it up otherwise the move seem unnecessary. If u stay mid strip (Aria, Bellagio, or Cosmo) for the for the first part of the strip i would advice you to move north since u like nicer hotels. Wynn would easily be my choice but Venetian Palazzo could also be an option.

A host can only comp off things that are DIRECT with the hotel. You can use 3rd party sites to get some price ideas, but we ALWAYS book direct with hotel. A host can not comp something from a 3rd party.

If all or most of your play is at MGM properties, then do both stays there.

I'd go with Wynn or Bellagio, depending on where you want to stay. Or, save some money and go to Mirage. It depends on what type of vibe you want in the place you stay at. Just look at pics of Mirage vs Bellagio and you'll get the difference.
