Hey y'all, I'm considering taking a Myvegas Comp for this bar. The website says the entire lounge is made of ice, even the drink glasses are made of ice, and they give you parkas and boots and gloves when you go in. It sound so ridiculous that it seems like perfect over-the-top VEGAS!

The price of admission (waived with the Myvegas comp) is $17. Anybody know how much drinks are?

Also, there's one at Monte Carlo and one at Mandalay Bay. Any idea what's the difference? Recommendations for one over the other?

    Appreciate any advice!

If you do a search of the posts, there are several threads that talk about Minus 5. I think there is even one with lots of pictures (it might be within a trip report).

I have not been to either, but from the threads:

    • MC lounge is bigger than MB lounge
    • you can buy drinks in advance or in the lounge.
    • cheaper to buy in advance, but still very pricey. $15??

    Apologies!

I'm sorry, I should have looked before I posted. Of course there are tons of postings about Minus 5, my question is what this website is all about! Thanks for pointing it out. If any administrator reads this, it won't hurt my feelings to take down my post and avoid cluttering the board. I'll think first next time!

We went to the one at Monte Carlo last time and were thinking of trying the Mandalay Bay one next time but after reading reviews on this website I think we will go back to Monte Carlo. I do know that the Monte Carlo one is bigger (it is on the 1st floor). We probably wouldn't go back but our friends haven't been so we will go again for them. Looking at the website I really don't think you save any money buy buying the package. When we were there last time you could buy drinks once you got in there for $10 and it looks as though that is what they charge with a package. It looks as though entry only is $17+tax and entry with 2 drinks is $37+tax. So unless costs inside have changedit really doesn't save you much.

Is it worth the $37 to do?

How long do you stay in the bar?

Has anyone used the MyVegas on this? - how did that work?

When we go on vacation we like to try different things so to us it was worth it. You can stay as long as you want. We probably stayed about an hour.

As long as you want but you won't wanna stay that long.

It's better if you go in with a group. Then you can actually chill in the there and lollygag, you know, like at a lounge.

I did this on a myvegas comp. IMO, it was waste of the comp. The novelty of the ice wears off fast and you'll want to leave pretty quick. That is what we did. The comp was easy, I went to the mlife desk and got it and handed it to the Minus 5 people.

    I'd grab a different prize.

    I wouldn't waste a comp on it but I would recommend going once if there's a half-price deal ($17).

Again, best with a group....oh and bring your cellphone or camera in.

I went to the Monte Carlo one, it was fun! I don't know that I would do it again, but for free, 100% check it out, it's pretty cool.

Thanks for all the replies, y'all! If I find myself with extra loyalty points before our trip in two weeks, I'll give this place a try. It just sounds silly, and that's what I love about Vegas!

I'll let you know this weekend how it was at MB. I used myVegas points for the 2 entries w/ 2 cocktails. My sis has been wanting to go for awhile and I couldn't stand just paying that amount to be frozen so why not go when it is free. the 39k LP is was easy to make up

Girlfriend wanted to do this and it came up on Groupon a couple months back so I bought it only for that reason. Otherwise it looks like a waste of money. First, you start in an air conditioned casino, so it is not like you are super hot right before you go in as you would be walking straight in off the strip. Two, how long can a person last in there? Most people are wearing shorts and t shirts because they have been walking around in the Vegas heat outside, so you have to buy a coat if you want to stay in there very long (extra charge). I don't get the allure of it but the shots looks semi cool because they are frozen, plus Groupon was half price.

I read on a yelp review you can haggle with the entry fee price, even get it for free, if they are short on business that day.
