Just back from Vegas. One of the hosts told my friend that MGM was going to eliminate Noir, saying that it "just isn't working out". Don't really know when or why, but can't say I'm surprised since MLife is so schizophrenic. I personally don't think their whales need a Noir card to feel extra special. The casinos know who those people are and I think the hosts make sure they're taken care of. Anyway, just thought I'd share the latest rumor. Makes me wonder if they're going to revamp the whole tier system...?!

They just can't figure out what they're doing over there.

I would be willing to bet large amounts of money that the highest, invite-only level isn't going to go anywhere. They might rename it or change the benefits etc., but there's always going to be a high-level card for high-level players (platinum isn't enough to get to or provide enough marketable benefits for them to just move people to that).

If only for marketing purposes, there will always be some kind of 'Noir' level equivalent.

My host said it will require 2 million tier point to reach Noir , changes expected in Oct.

that's not true, they're just telling people that because they're downgrading a lot of people who were upgraded last year when it went to 1M TCs. that way when they get downgraded, they won't feel bad, i guess? Noir is invite only again now and they are trying to put the toothpaste back in the tube so to speak now that they let everybody know about it.

My bet is that of the last five things we have heard about NOIR - maybe one is correct. Even that is a slim bet.

Lots of rumors. Very little facts. After all, MGM is allergic to facts.

Fact - Noir is going back to invite only. This level will not be attainable by tier points in the future.

$50k actual loss or $100k theo loss is what I've heard. I'm ok with those numbers.

That's a huge jump. You can get to NOIR with under 10k theo right now. Oh well there goes any shot of me getting NOIR in terms of theo, its possible in terms of actual but obviously not something I'd hope for.

Yeah getting rid of it completely would make zero sense. These tiers cost them almost nothing. Even CET's tiers have more of an actual cost. They wouldn't get rid such an inexpensive way to recognize their most profitable gamblers.

that's the level it used to be at. actually I believe it was even higher as it was $100k theo or actual, not $50k actual. that's definitely a reasonable level. keep in mind it's over the course of the entire year, so 100k theo is only 5 trips at 20k per or whatever. 1M or even 2M TCs was way, way too low as that could be done in just a few days.

I played BJ at the pitch S17 $50 BJ game at Bellagio (in the morning - the table is typically $100-$200 + minimum in the PM / all day on weekends) and this guy with a Noir card is playing third base and played $5k-$15K a hand and going through $50K markers every 5-10 minutes. He bounced around from table to table looking for his luck to change. The odds of it happening were slim as he did not incorporate basic strategy in his play. Staying on 14 against a 10, hitting a 13 against a 5. I would rename the program in his name / honor if it meant keeping him at my tables.

Yeah, give that guy whatever card he wants, and let him name and design it.

Kinda like what CET did with Terry Watanabe.

Since when did the Bellagio start offering a pitch game? I've never seen it there so far. The double-decks have always been face up. Where was it located?

You are correct - cards were laid on the felt. It's in the higher limit area between Club Prive and the Cashier. The pit closer to the cashier has S17 tables, but they are mostly black chip minimums unless you catch them on a weekday morning shift. They bumped them to $100 min at noon during my last stay. The other tables in the pit are shoe games w/ Surrender but H17.

A few MILFe high end casinos and TI are the last of a dying breed of strip casinos to offer two deck S17, DAS tables at the green chip level. Stardust had a regular $25 table and Wynn offered these rules for their first few years at $50 during slower weekdays but for most places, if it is offered at all, it's at black chip minimums.

I normally will leave a table when players play crazy, but I was winning and it was entertaining but somewhat sad that someone would go through that much money without at minimum having a clue as to how to bet.

info from my host (not verified with other hosts) is that Noir will remain, but currently the threshold is ~1.5 million gaming TC (mLife revises that figure periodically)

nothing mentioned about theo loss or actual loss. marker is NOT required.

A $500 avg bet customer betting 4 hours a day of baccarat will take 40 days to reach that level.

Ok so based on what people have posted in just this thread about what they've heard from their hosts, NOIR will now either be:

    - completely eliminated
    - 2,000,000 TCs
    - invite only
    - 50k actual loss or 100k theo
    - 1,500,000 TCs

I think the only takeaway is none of these hosts seem to be getting the same memos or sitting in the same meetings.

that's because if you ask 12 people a question you'll get 13 different answers.
