    DIAD still 3000 points?

Had to ask just to make sure since TR just change the points requirement on all tier levels.

DIAD is now 5000 points in a single day. I don't think its anywhere on the website (neither was the old amount) but it was noted in their statement announcing the new tier changes.

However, it is pointless to do DIAD now. Instead of doing 5000 points in one day you can just do 2500 points a day for two days. Then each day will give you a 5000 point bonus so you'll have the 15k points needed for regular Diamond status. The bonus points don't count towards DIAD but do count towards regular Diamond of course. When you do DIAD your tier will expire in March 2014. If you do it the regular way it will expire in March 2015. So for the same amount of coin-in you would get Diamond for a year longer.

KickinChicken pretty much summed it up perfectly. Doesn't seem that hard to achieve, actually.

Besides the lounges... I'm not sure what the draw is though.

Since I don't drink, I don't use the lounges. What I do like is the priority treatments in regards to checking in, line use, buffet entrances, restaurant seating and things like that.

Yeah its actually become really easy to achieve. Because of the bonus tiers I already re-earned Diamond until 2015 from a combined total of about 4 hours of play. Craziness.

The benefits....not a bunch. I actually haven't ever visited a Diamond lounge yet. I always forget about them and in AC the Borgata has a much better lounge for higher tier players. There are the benefits Dave listed and a few hard dollar benefits as well.

Getting Diamond strictly for the sake of getting Diamond is generally a losing proposition, as most comp chasing would be. But if your play tends to be within a certain band of any of the tier bonus triggers (i.e. 500, 1000, or 2500 per day) then it is worth determining if there is any real economic reason for you to play slightly more or slightly less to just hit that trigger and walk away. Sometimes it would make sense.

Where is the Borgata room... is that where the old poker room used to be? I always wondered what was down there.

Borgata will upgrade you to Black if you're Diamond at Caesars. MGM is buying back into them, but I don't expect they'll ever match Platinum.

Much easier to achieve Diamond and match at Borgata than achieving Black on your own merit at Borgata.

I don't know where the old poker room was but this is downstairs. Its called the Amphora Lounge and its right by Fornelletto. Here's the property map and you can see it: http://www.theborgata.com/assets/webpage/property_map/index.html

I ate there the last time I went and the food was superb and they serve top shelf drinks, tons of big screens, etc. It costs $10 comp dollars each time but that's nothing given the quality of it. Its a full buffet with good quality food, carving stations, tons of desserts, etc.

I didn't earn the Black card I used my CET Diamond to get it. Otherwise it takes much more play at Borgata to reach Black because they base it on theo not points and full-pay VP and BJ generate hardly any theo even at decently high limits.

Yep. That's the old poker room and race book. The new poker room is much nicer and larger. I haven't been down there since they closed it. I'd love to see what they've done with the place since the old poker room was down there since I spent many, many, many long hours grinding out.

The old race book was to the left of the escalators when you went down... I'm sure that's where they have the tvs and loungers.
In front when you came down was a small seating area with a food counter right behind that.
To the right of the escalators was the entire poker. The high-stakes area was in the poker room at the far left side (smaller room flanking the entire left side). I would assume the poker area is the dining area now.

Ah... maybe one of these days I'll get down there.

seriously you only need $12,500 coin-in per day for 2 days to get diamond? what a joke ... that's only like $2500 theo total. has anybody done the calculations to figure out how many TCs you get at table games? it's gotta be way more than that.

MGM never matched tiers at The Borgata before when they were partners with Boyd Gaming the first time around. The points earned on the players card also did not reflect in any way on your MGM (now MLife) Player's card - you couldn't even use it to keep your MGM points active because the Players Clubs were not connected. The only connection was that if you earned a certain number of comp dollars you could cash them in at The Player's Club desk for a certificate you could use at any MGM property in Vegas (which I used many times at The Bellagio).

Yeah for slots and even that theo is much higher than necessary. For VP its 25k coin-in per day so 50k total and with optimal play your theo is only around $250 with a 0.5% HA. Then you can take that Diamond card and get an automatic card upgrade at some other casinos.

I'd love to get some good estimates of the rate for table play as well. I've tried after sessions but it takes a while to update the system and I never remember to ask about my rating numbers. All I know is that its a low earning rate because I can account for most of my TCs through my VP play, even though I put in about an equal amount of time at tables. 25k coin-in on $5 VP only takes 2 hours at average speed.

I did DIAD this past December when it was only 3000 points. All on VP, it took me about 3 hours. When I hit 3000, I was up $30. I've gotten a lot of value with the diamond lounges in vegas, it is nice not to have to wait for a cocktail waitress. My favorite is the line pass though. Even if I had lost the $250 I estimated, I would still be very happy.

Do the "bonus" tier credits post to your account immediately?

Meaning if I earned 2500 pts a day for 2 days to achieve diamond, would I be able to get a diamond level card at the end of day 2 or the beginning of day 3? Or is there a longer lag before the bonus tier points post?

When my wife did this earlier this year - 2nd day getting the bonus, it took until the next day for the system to see it. YMMV

you can guarantee that nothing posts immediately. most things will happen at night when the system resets.

I posted something about this last year. These were my findings:

$150/hand for 12 hours resulted in about 3000 tier credits. This is about 1.66 credit per $1 per hour.

$200/hand for 16 hours was worth about 5000 tier credits which calculate down to 1.56 credit per $1 per hour.

These are ROUGH numbers but you might reasonably assume that at favorable/high limit rules BJ you should get about 1.5-1.7 credits per hour per dollar bet.I'm not sure why CET won't just come out and tell you that, but they keep it a complete mystery for table players.

This play was on high limit tables with the most favorable rules offered by Caesars. Playing on tables with poor rules may result in more tier points, but I don't really know.

SO, I believe that now you can play about 10 hours at $150 per hand in one day (or $300/hand for 5 hours) and earn about 2500 tier points.

You would play about 100 hands per hour for 10 hours. This would be 1000 hands*150*0.0026 house advantage = theoretical loss of $390 if you are playing absolutely perfect basic strategy on the game.

Of course, most BJ players are playing badly, facing bad rules, or both, and might have a theo more like 1000*150*.02=$3000. This is what Caesars must believe is more realistic. (Do you ever take even money? Don't use surrender correctly? Don't soft double? Don't hit soft 18 vs 10 and ace? Stay on 16 vs 10? You're like 95% of players, you're playing badly, and you will be facing a house advantage closer to 2% than 0.026%)

Under the current system, you get a 5000 TC bonus for this play. Do the same thing again the next day, you are Diamond. Again, playing PERFECTLY, your theoretical loss for this play is $390*2=$780. For most players your expected loss might be more like $6000. Of course, the game is very volatile and you might lose $20,000 in your efforts or could easily post a nice win in your pursuit of diamond in 2 days. (If you lived in Vegas, you could make one play for 2 days, theoretically lose $780, and then drink for free every day from 4-9pm for almost 2 years. Not a bad deal.)

For a higher limit player, this is ridiculously easy--play $1000 a hand for 90 minutes or so, 2 days in a row--and you're diamond until March 2015. Do this 20 days in a year, and you are seven stars.

That's still ridiculously high compared to slots. No wonder nobody plays CET for tables.

    Correct

and the day ends at their 4/5/6am (whichever based on location), no matter what time you start.

It is NOT 24 hours from when you begin
