I need at least a half day of doing little to nothing (probably reading, getting a report ready, etc) before I get back to the grind of daily life.

Do you have any recuperating rituals after a trip?

I basically do nothing for a day. I pretend I'm not dead tired and broke, but it's pretty easy to tell I'm exhausted and my wallets empty.

I always take the day-after-return as an off day, to recover...(unless, of course, I return on a Friday or Saturday).
On that recovery day, I force myself to get up at my regular weekday time, and force myself to stay up until my normal time to go to sleep. That usually works.

I take the first day home as "detox" day. I drink a lot of water, sleep as much as I can, eat things like fruit, did I mention sleep? After that it's up at the regular time, even if I don't feel like it. It gets me back on track.

i usually go to sleep on the plane after we finally take off for home, and when i wake up, am grabbing for my boarding pass or any other piece of paper to start writing my list of what i need to do when i get home. do a thing or two on the list, find i am not really so behind and do not have to feel guilty for leaving, sleep well, and get back to life the next morning!

As soon as I land at my home airport(Midway), I am over Las Vegas. Does not take much for me to recuperate. I don't need to do anything out of the ordinary.

I always plan to have a day off before going in to work, again.
    But....
I'll end of mowing the lawn + doing laundry.
If I get to bed at a reasonable hour on my return home ?
    ( usually not ! )......
    golf in the early a.m.

I always book Vegas Sun-Fri and on the following Monday at work I used to so often think, "I should've taken Monday off."

Now I take that Monday off too...so come back home to a three-day weekend. It's like another gift to myself.

I plan the trip so I have two days to rest before going back to work.

During those two days I sleep, eat more fruit and juices since I know my body resistance is at an all time low, therefore easily succeptable to getting sick.
