So my question is about drinking and smoking in the poker rooms: (NL Holdem)

I imagine you can't smoke in them. (If I'm with another player that is playing and they want to smoke...what are their options? Can they just step up and out of the room for the moment?)

How about drink service? is it good? fast? Slow? Does it change depending on if it is a daily tourney vs. just a cash game?

General comments welcome, if you can comment on the Golden Nugget No Limit Hold'em Daily Poker Tournaments. That would be appreciated.

    Looking at the 1:00am option.

Most rooms are non smoking now. Yes you can leave a poker room to go have a smoke. But the action doesn't stop for you. So in a cash game they'd deal you out (if you missed blinds you'd have to post $3 in a 1-2 game to come back in). In a tourney I believe they'd blind you off, but tourneys also usually have breaks.

Drink service is usually fine (can't speak for GN). Not lightning fast but you won't be ignored.

Only if you missed the blinds, right?

Correct. You only are required to pay to get back in the game if you miss the Blinds.
Smokers come and go all the time - not a big deal.
The booze will come fast and hard....poker rooms traditionally have good drink service. The GN is no exception.
Live versus tournament play doesn't affect service. The cocktail servers couldn't care less what you're playing - as long as you're tipping!

At the Nugget it is only a few steps to the edge of the Poker Room. With the right timing you should not even miss your blind.

    Drink service

I have to comment on the drink service.. on a Thursday I believe around 1-2 AM the drink service at the Flamingo DIED. They cut down to one server for the entire casino. It was insane. Waited for over an hour for a drink, no drink in sight so I cashed in my chips and sat at a bar and played VP, instant drink service at the bar!

I couldn't beleive it though, everyone was pissed. There were about 3 - 4 full tables and plenty of demand and the poker manager kept yelling for a waitress and nobody ever came. That's just the Flamingo though, probably not the same everywhere but if you are a late night player like I am then I think your chances of running into this are greater.

I think only Boulder Station allows smoking at this point in the Vegas area. However many rooms are very tolerant of e-cigs, i see them more and more. If this works for you, you might want to call ahead and see if they are allowed. Drink service is almost always good at the poker rooms that i have been in, and that includes most :)
