We checked out Boyd properties for the first time last summer. We didn't stay there or redeem any comps or anything. We went out to Sam's Town for several hours then played a couple hours the next day at MSS. 95% slots, 5% VP. I have gotten some free room offers, but my husband just gets reduced rates. Is there a way to link cards to combine offers? I got 2090 slot points and a card score of 4007. DH got 1347 slot points and a card score of 2686. I have no idea what this means in Boyd speak. The only comps we'd really use would be the room for 3 weekday nights. (If we were going to eat there, we have LVA and ACG to use.) Ideally would like to stay at the Fremont for a Mon/Tues/Wed at the end of August. Is there any chance I could get a larger room with these stats if that was all we wanted? I really want to stay at the Fremont, but I don't think I can take the small bathroom. We would stick to playing to all the Boyd properties over those 3 days, so our new stats would be considerably higher. Any insight would be appreciated!
Based on responses from a question I posed in this thread, you need to be Emerald (tier score of 250,000 points) to be offered a suite at the Fremont. I've never seen them offered for purchase. There are only 1-2 per floor, depending on the downtown hotel. You can call, and you may randomly score a suite on a very slow day, but odds are you will be checked into a standard room. I earned over 10,000-15,000 points per day, was back-comped on my room during NASCAR weekend ($100 night), and was offered meals where-ever I wanted that weekend. For a year afterward, I was offered a free 4 night stay and meals at any Fremont restaurant and $100 free-play. I stayed once more on a Tournament offer. I also couldn't deal with the bathroom size, and I'm pretty much a no fuss person. I have not accepted a future offer (they dwindled to 3 nights and limited food). My advice is if you want a Boyd property downtown, stay at the California in a good and quiet (comparatively to Main Street Station). My advice to Boyd gaming is to remodel your rooms to expand the bathroom size enough to provide guests with actual counter space - larger than the 2 inches on either side of the sink and a Flying Wallenda wire sized counter space which guests do not have to pray their items do not accidentally fall into the toilet. I have a question for other Boyd players / Boyd downtown players which may help your decision: Does Boyd count your rated play throughout all Boyd casinos during a comp stay (like CET does) or are your comps for your current stay considered against what you played at the hotel you are staying at? Do they frown on / stop future offers if you stay on a comp at the California, but split your play at The Cal, MSS and or Fremont (and or Gold Coast / The Orleans)?
I know for sure your play at the 3 downtown properties counts as all the same. I do not know if play at the other properties counts as well. As an example I took the WAX bus out to Suncoast on Tuesday because they have a 7X multiplier on Tuesdays. I of course got my points but I have no clue if it counted in my downtown ratings.:confused2: btw: 20 minute bus ride each way and only a $1 if you are over 55. 4 stops total, each way. It definitely is an express bus.
Thanks for the insight! I wonder why the feel the need to keep their comp calculations in Ft. Knox... LOL I guess I will try to figure it out this summer. But basically, are slot points the same as CET's RCs? And card score the same as CET's tier score?
$1 in equals 1 point. 100,000 points equals $100 Pay with points for food and beverage and there is a 40% discount. So, a $100 food bill costs 60,000 points, not 100,000.
Really, you think so? I don't gamble on the Strip but I thought the points conversion at Boyd wasn't bad. There is also a discount in the gift shops, but I don't think it's 40%.
I didn't realize the cash back earned via B Connected was poor versus other properties until I looked it up. Using it for dining bumps it up to 0.14%. Downtown / Strip Properties: 0.67% Hooters, MILFe Properties, Treasure Island & Wynn/Encore. 0.60% Venetian / Palazzo. 0.50%: Binions / Four Queens. 0.20%: The D, El Cortez & Golden Gate. 0.10%: Boyd Properties, All Stations Casinos. 0.044% CET Properties. Cash back is one factor to consider (Room comps, resort fees, free play, coin in per day, pay tables on machines, point multipliers, blackjack table conditions, etc.) among the total comp package. You will do a lot better playing 100.17% DB or 99.54% JOB with 0.1% cash back than 6/5 - 8/5 JOB with 0.67% cash back. Thanks for confirming this. I'll try to head to SunCoast on the only Tuesday I'm there on my 12 day August/September trip (arrive Wed, leave 2 Mondays later). My brother lives in Summerlin and I'll likely stay a few nights and try for a back-end comp. I've taken the WAX, but only between McCarran, NYNY/Tropicana and Downtown. I'll try it Suncoast. I'll hit 50 before the decade is out and score all kinds of bonuses and "senior citizen" offers throughout the Vegas valley (as well as increasing aches and pains).
Thanks for that link as well as the info, Viva! Very interesting to see the comparisons. Thank you for sharing!
