    All,

My wife and I will be in Vegas for a short trip, June 3rd – June 7th, however because of odd flight times, we only have 3 real days there. We would like to hit downtown for some cheep blackjack & fun atmosphere. Last time we were downtown (Just before the Golden Gate re-model) we stopped in most casinos and found the blackjack at the Golden Gate to be by far our favorite… We liked it because there was plenty of $5 3/2 blackjack with a lively crowd, fun dealers, we could find a table, and drink service was good. That leads me to my 2 questions…

Blackjack: Will we still be able to find a good 3/2 $5 blackjack game at the Golden Gate, with good drink service and be able to find a spot at the table? If not, is there somewhere else we should try?

Time of Day (weeknight): Our preference would be to play during the day, so we could get back to the strip and do some other activities during the day… however we are not going to diminish the downtown experience if this is not possible. We would like to have the ability (assuming we don’t lose everything early) to play for 5 – 6 hours.
So if we go from noon – 6PM, can we still find the fun atmosphere in the casino? One other Idea I had is, what if we got to the golden gate at Midnight… how late will things be going, will the casino still be fun at 5AM, or will it die down before then?

Either of the above options would allow us to see an extra show, but again, we don’t want to diminish the DT experience we had last time.

    Thanks so much,
    spauls

I've never not found $5 games at the Golden Gate so you should be able to land those and find a spot no matter what time you go. The dancing dealers don't show up until the evening though so the atmosphere is way more laid back. Place is kind of empty during the day.

I was there and I think I went to bed around 5 a.m. and the girls were still going strong at that time. That was a Thursday night. The number of patrons was pretty strong too.

    I'm hungover just remembering this.

But smiling at the thought though, yes?

The quitting time for the girls varies. The regular dealers started showing up around 3 am or so the last time I was there. Just one or two. The girls started to fade away. When I noticed what was happening I asked the gal at my table when they quit and she said, "It varies. Just depends on different things."

A bunch come on at 6pm. They don't fill the whole pit right then, but close.

Thanks so much for your replies... How hard is it to find a cab from downtown at 3AM - 5AM outside the Plaza?

I doubt you'd have a problem grabbing a cab at Plaza but Golden Nugget (almost) next door will always have a cab line-up.

Perfect, thanks so much everyone... After talking to my wife with the info you provided... we are going to do an early show... then go to downtown late... and just cab it back very early in the morning. I really appreciate the help!

Hit Downtown any time after 8-9 at night and you will have a great time. If you come in the afternoon 3-5, not a lot happening unless you stay for a few hours, then things get going. The first bands start around 7 and go until 1 and you will have a good time going from casino to casino. Security is on bikes and walking all day and night so you will always be safe. Just stay on Fremont Street under the canopy and it's all good.
