I will be at the Commissioner of Civil Marriages downtown on april 16 2013 for my marriage. I could be your witness if you'll be mine. Is someone interested and available for this date around 4:30 PM ?

I wonder if this is the sort of announcement where Twitter could help? I'm not experienced in the strategic use of hashtags, but it seems like it could work if you chose something appropriate?

Congratulations on your wedding & good luck finding witnesses!!

Thanks Joe. Yes I'm just wanting to work all the details in advance. I realise that a witness can be arranged when arriving at the Commissioner of Civil Marriages.

Is that the place where you get your license?

We got married in Vegas 3 years ago and I don't believe a witness was required. We had no one there except us, the minister (?), and the lady at the front desk. Maybe she was the witness, but we had no one else. Just an FYI.

    Congrats on your upcoming marriage!

The Commissioner of Civil Marriages is the place where you can get a civil marriage. The place to get a License is the Marriage License Bureau that is about one block away at 201 E Clark Ave. The Commissioner of Civil Marriages does not supply witnesses. You have to find your own.

Yes, my mom was married there in 2001 (St Patrick's Day!!) My husband and I were the witnesses, though come to think of it, I don't remember actually signing anything. Must have.....

I'm getting married at Chapel of Flowers on Wednesday the 17th. I can arrange to get my license around your wedding time to be your witness. Let me know I'll check back on here tonight after work!
