hi guys, planning a 12 person boys weekend and wanted to pick the collective brain of the group.

we have done vegas before and in our maturity now (most of us mid 30s) we are wondering about renting a house off strip vs staying on strip.

if we do stay on the strip, then we are thinking we'd need a couple suites and or connecting rooms..seems pricey and we know the rooms arent allocated til check in..soooo.. we started checking out vacation rentals.

the houses we found that can sleep 12 guys comfortably look awesome...and are priced fairly affordable ($300-$400 per night).

but we are wondering about cabbing to the strip (these places are between 6-10mi to PHo according yo google maps). at the end of the night will cabbies not take us home? we arent huge gamblers (despite the ironic username lol) and plan to golf during the day..and maybe hit up one pool party in a weekend...

    thoughts?

Cabbies won't want to take you to Henderson. But they don't have a choice, and if you're boarding at a major hotel, the guy who puts you in the cab will remind them that they don't have a choice. So if you don't mind a pissed off cabbie, then no worries. And it's probably a $35 cab ride to that part of the world, which isn't bad if you're splitting it 4 ways or so. I know MGM to M is about $30 to $35, and that's about 8 or 9 miles.

If your house is somewhere near a casino where they can grab another fare, they won't mind too much. You are going to have to call for a pickup. See if that cabbie wouldn't mind if you called for a pickup to return to the house.

I have a feeling you are going to spend far more on cab fares then if you just booked 6 rooms in a strip hotel. What about trying to get a couple nice suites / condo's just off the strip. Maybe one of those timeshare resorts.
Personally, I like having the convenience of just being able to pop back into my hotel room every now and then and take a nap or recharge before going back out. Kinda an inconvenience if you are 10 miles away.

Ya I would look at the Jockey Club. I think those rooms run around $125 a night and can sleep 6, just get 2 of those and save some money.
