I was just looking over the tier benefits on the Mlife site. I noticed that pearl and higher members have a benefit called "buffet line pass".

    What does this mean exactly?
Does this simply mean you can skip the line at any MGM(mlife) buffet?

We have tried to go to the Bellagio buffet several times but the line is always very long (1hr+ wait in line!).

How would this work? Do you just walk by everybody in line and show your mlife card where you pay? Does my wife (or other friends) also need their own pearl or higher card to pass the line or can she get in with me?

If I'm understanding this right... this seems like a pretty nice perk for pearl members!

Can anyone explain this a little better to me...
    Thank you in advance!

When you get to the buffet there is the standard line and then there will be a second line for "MLIFE MEMBERS"

As a line pass you go up to the MLIFE line which should be shorter than the regular line.

The sign at Bellagio Buffets was always confusing to me. I think it says invited guest. Since I was not invited (I stay at CET) I was not sure if that was the right line. Just go to the short line, maybe no line, and show your card. It seems many people in the long line do not know they can skip the line.

It works everywhere but the Bellagio, where you have to be gold. At least that's what the sign said the last time I was there.

    SHHHH don't tell anybody!

When I first got my gold card, my best benefit was walking past all those people in line at the Bellagio and flashing the card!

I have never seen Pearl advertised for those lines. They are always Gold and above, but it definitely says Pearl on the website.

I would try it. The worst that can happen is that they say, "no."

Your card should work for everyone in your group.

I personally used a pearl card at the MGM buffet awhile back. And the one at the Monte Carlo shows pearl right on the sign.

I'm gold now, so I don't pay as much attention, but those two for sure.

Yeah... I'm Platinum and I remember being Gold and seeing the sign with the Gold and Platinum cards on it... perhaps there was a Pearl card as well and I just never noticed it?

Regardless... I would try it... it says so on the website and the worst they can do is say, "no," and then you can bring up the mlife rewards website and argue from there.

There are so few tier benefits that you're almost obligated to take issue when you want to use them and are told, "no."

I use the taxi line privileges all the time. Just walk straight to the front and take the next cab. That's worth being Platinum right there.

It's the one perk I was looking forward too. 100 points short of Pearl and then MGM Mirage reset my tier points to 0  I was so close!

I am pearl and use the line all the time at Bellagio. It was Bellagio that told me about the line pass.

This is how the tier benefits become pointless. Anyone who gambles at all will get Pearl. It's an easier low roller level to get than platinum at CET. Others have said the signs at bellagio are only got gold and above but if the employees don't know that they may just be letting pearls in the express line.

And thats what casinos want, people that gamble...

If you're a non gambler you wait in the long line.

It's easy for a non-gambler to reach Pearl since you get 25 TCs for every $1 of hotel spend. In fact if you never gamble but stay at MGM casinos it's practically guaranteed you'd reach Pearl in one trip.

You hardly need to gamble to become pearl and like kickin points out non-gamblers would easily reach pearl also. The more freely you give out a benefit like line passes the more pointless it becomes. The express line will have as many people as the regular lines. It is even more bad if the sign says only gold and above but the employees don't know that and let pearls in. That means Bellagio isn't even aware of the problem so its up to us to let them know.

Do you know if you earn TCs on resort fees too?

I have no clue. I've only had to pay taxes and tips at MGM properties which I don't think I got TCs for.

If it was that easy to be pearl you would think there would be more people getting a line pass. Most of the time I am the only one in that line. I think most people just do not know what the card levels mean. I see alot more people in the diamond line at CET.

That's the difference. At MGM most people probably don't know because its all still relatively new. Also as a Diamond at CET and Platinum at MGM I know CET players are a lot more about milking their tier benefits. It's because the program has been around longer and CET caters to a more value-seeking crowd.

But Pearl is easy to get for just about anyone who gambles at all -- even at low limits. Especially if its slots. Maybe not low limit table players even though they need bigger bankrolls than low limit slot players. The low limit slot players are still more valuable to the casinos bottom line.

Exactly. The gambler is rewarded at absolutely no cost to the casino, with the added benefit that their customer will be back on the casino floor sooner.

Far from being pointless, it's certainly a more tangible benefit than Caesar's second tier. Hell, Caesars sells line passes to anyone who will shell out $15/person at their more popular buffets. Which customer do you think feels more appreciated?
