Hi kind of new to the board and have some questions. My wife and I are going to be going to Vegas in may for two weeks. We are currently pearl on our mlife. I am planning on charging all of our purchases to our room. Who should I talk to at the end of our trip about getting some of the trip taken care of. Should I talk to a host or should I ask at the players club. I am figuring by the end of this trip we should be to gold status. Oh and we do 85% of our gambling at mgm properties. Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.

If you're planning on playing the same per day as in previous trips, I'd talk to a host to start out to find out what they can comp at that level of play. Often, they'll give you a bet level that is needed for room comps (for example $50/hand for 4 hours a day, or a certain amount of coin-in at slots). If you're planning on playing more per day than before, then put a couple days in at the higher level and then talk to the host.

However, hosts are specific to a certain property, so it is in your best interest to do all your gambling at one spot. You'll get express comps, slot points, corporate offers, etc. based on total MGM play, but hosts look only at your play on their property.

You can also sometimes get comps from pit bosses for buffets, if you're spending multiple hours at the tables at a decent bet level (usually $25+).

And even if a host is noncommittal when you talk to them during your trip, check back when everything is done. If you are staying that long, you will probably play enough to get a night or meal or two taken care of, at least (depending on where you are staying).

Don't forget: set your gambling level based on what you're comfortable with, not what will get you comps! Playing for comps always costs more in the end than if you'd just spent the money instead.

    Two full weeks in Vegas!

    Where will you be staying?
What will you daily and overall play be like? Type, amount, hours?

You indicate you are now Pearl. How much do you have in Express Comps?

I don't have a host at M life. I have gone up to the players desk before check out and had them wipe my bill clean.

You can go up to the Players Desk, but many times they will tell you to hold on while they ring a host, and ask about what can be picked up.

I would just bypass that and contact a host directly either before the trip, or when you leave. When push comes to shove, the Players Club people dont have any real power.

When this happens (vs in the past), one of three things takes place:

    a) They take care of the expenses using YOUR express comps.
    b) They take of things with host approval, casino pays
    c) Combination of a and b.

They no longer seem to tell you what they did.

You can log into your account and see:

    Some offers (not all)
    Your current tier score
    Your current Express Comps balance.

    You need to login.

By the way, playing slots for 4 hours could mean lots of different things. If $.40 a pull vs $6 a pull is a wide variance. Then, the number of pulls per hour, etc.

Keep in mind, they generally won't comp any tips you've added so what I do is just pay the tips in cash and then charge the rest of the bill to my room.
