Hey guys. I'm ten working days away from the start of my trip. I have 3 nights booked and paid for at the Flamingo, a Fab Deluxe room via 3rd party.

I have stayed in a Go room and really enjoyed it, location and room.

I am considering a room at the HRH Tower Suite. I found it on a 3rd party site as a mystery option for about $50-60 per night. I've seen the photo's and would a) like to try a new location and b) get a better room than the Fab Deluxe.

I plan on most of my gambling being done Downtown during the DT portion of the trip.
Will most likely have a rental car.
But will most likely be drinking especially in the evening.

So what would you do? Pay to upgrade at the Flamingo (booked it so cheap I could upgrade for same/less that HRH Suite)?

    -OR-

Book at HRH because the suites are so awesome and the hotel is so awesome and the staff is so awesome and the food is so awesome and everyone should stay there at least once in their life?

Thanks for your input! All thoughts welcome, especially first hand experience.

Having no experience of HRH, I am going to go out on a limb and label it more awesome than Flamingo. That is how unimpressed I am with Flamingo.

From the sound of your post, it appears that the quality of the actual accommodation are important to you. Based on room alone, HRH is going to win hands down.

Obviously the HRH Suites are nicer. I've been in several suites at the HRH as well as the FAB rooms at The Flamingo. If you enjoy doing your party portion of your trip on the strip, you'll probably benefit more from the location of the Flamingo since you have more options to wander the strip easily.

Personally I'd stay at the HRH for the type of nightlife I enjoy(I'm a downtown kinda fella though, so this would be a 2nd choice). I'd walk over to Terrible's and do some gambling, then spend some time drinking at the Doubledown Saloon and the Haufbrau house. HRH has some good people watching, and it's fun to wander around and look at all the music memorabilia. Last time I stayed at the HRH, the shuttle was pretty much non-existent, so remember to factor in some long walks or cab rides if you pick this route and plan on visiting the strip.

Remember, this comes from a guy who doesn't really enjoy the strip, although I've stayed a couple nights here and there on past trips.

Of course you'll have a blast wherever you decide to stay, enjoy!

I think what it all comes down to is how much time to you plan on spending in your room and at your "home" casino.
you mention spending alot of time downtown, I would think access would be alot easier from the strip via the Deuce and SDX bus's. But I've never looked at transp. from HRH.

I'm a HUGE fan of the Hard Rock and I've stayed in most every joint in town at one time or another, including the Flamingo. That's an incredible price for a room in the HRH Tower! I will say this on behalf of the Flamingo though, they have an awesome strip location, a fun pool area (though that's probably not a big deal in 2 weeks) and their casino is lively. The rooms, even the GO rooms don't compare to the HRH Tower rooms at the Hard Rock. If you do stay at the HRH, be sure to use the separate entrance/valet off Harmon (across from the Rumor Hotel). You can still check into an HRH Tower room at the main check-in, but the line's always longer and a much further walk to your elevators (which are the fastest in town).

The Hard Rock has spent a chunk of change on the property in recent years. Some say, it grew too much and ruined the "ambiance", I don't agree, but the Hard Rock casino isn't as lively as a lot of others and at times, it's downright dead. It's a late night and weekends place, which is fine for me as most of my visits to Vegas are business related. I think you can probably get to downtown every bit as fast from the Hard Rock compared to the Flamingo, as the HRH sits just a little south of Flamingo and traffic on Paradise moves way faster than LV Blvd... another reason I love the location.

The HRH traditionally gets bagged-on around here for the clientele, but frankly I think too many made up their mind about the property from watching the ReHab TV show. The property does skew younger, but there's all kinds of folks there and I think their staff on par with anywhere. From various posts and reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor, it's a place you either love or dislike... doesn't seem to be much middle of the road.

The Fab rooms are disgusting and not renovated. The GO rooms are nice, but my last trip there I still wasn't too impressed, my room and the halls smelled gross.

HRH those rooms seem super cool, but I feel that place really doesn't have much to offer unless you are going to a show or something.

I guess ultimately do you want to be on the strip or not? Because the rooms at HRH are clearly better. Personally for the price I'd take HRH.

    Pre Trip Tilt!?

:evillaugh That's right, I couldn't resist. I just booked the "Mystery Hotel", which was indeed the HRH All Suite Tower for $69/night + tax and...resort fees.

The same unit is listed @ $131/night + extras.

I haven't stepped foot inside this Hotel Heaven/Low Roller Hell yet, but dang it (Rumdranker slams near empty cup of spirits on computer desk) I'm gonna call it a win. I even used a coupon on checkout to save $15.

This whole thing was supposed to be extended time in country for same or less money. But when I see luxury for "cheap" I gotta have it. I'm went on hotel tilt.

Hell, I may even keep the cheap ass Flamingo room just for kicks. Double booked...smells like baller status. After all this is Vegas...:wink2:
