Do you often go on tilt when gambling? What causes it for you? I know I tend to go on tilt when I've lost at least half my bankroll, especially if i never got any decent wins while losing it. Then I start thinking 'fukk it I'll just lose the rest" and I start playing more aggressively and care less about optimal odds.

What kind of stuff do you start doing?

If you never go on tilt, any idea how you avoid it?

I never tilt over money. I tilt over other bad things happening while I'm gambling...then I sit there fuming and losing. Like someone being rude, or a bad dealer.

I've gotten better at walking away from those situations, but not perfect.

I'll go on tilt when I flop a set and get sucked out on the river by some butt munch with an 8 4 catching a gut shot straight. Just burns me. Have to take a walk or else I'll do something stupid.:nono: :nono: :nono:

Usually it is time running out on my trip and no memorable wins or hits of any sort... Last trip I had good money management but no luck day after day. My bankroll was right where I expected it to be the final morning before my flight - but I sat down at a VP machine offering a nice progressive for the royal and went total tilt. No more record keeping for what I was feeding the machine - just naked raw gambling doing anything to get that final redeeming hit and make the trip memorable.... "Oh money still in my wallet? Let's go !!"

Nope, the hit didn't happen - and I damaged my bankroll a lot more than I had planned - but I certainly understood why I was on tilt. I love the gambling experience and needed that endorphin rush of a great score at least once that trip....

I have tilted before (under the influence) at BJ after losing a 3 or 4 way split/double where the dealer will show the actual 16 you are betting on and drop the 4 killing your 19's...Make or break session hand so just put a stack of what's left out there cause you ready to walk..
That hand never wins. One kick to the groin and then the slap to the face for being stupid and not reverting back to table min bet or just leaving the table altogether.. (Note to self- reread this post day before next trip in May)

drinking definitely helps me tilt. mostly I tilt when I get some kind of bad beat. whether it's a suck out at the poker table or a 1-2 outer on the Bacc table, that can lead me to bet bigger and press and if I lose another couple of hands in a row at that point, i'm officially on tilt.

There are some assholes who, when shooting the dice, starts taunting me or acts really obnoxious when I lose a bet because I'm playing Don't Pass.

Buddy, it could be my mother shooting the dice, i'll still play DP. I bet the odds, not the shooter. No need to take offense to it.

For me it's a craps table that has every shooter establishing a point then seven-out on the very next roll.

I keep telling myself "this can't happen again..." And of course it can and it does, over and over again.

Just drives me nuts and of course puts me on full tilt.:grrr:

By the time I realize I'm on tilt I've already blown through my bankroll...usually then you go on more tilt!

I think the losing without one hit .... Pt seven out repeatedly, no hits at all on roulette, lots of suck out on baccarat or blackjack...

But some of my biggest wins have come from being on tilt...

At craps it is usually too much alcohol.Press my bets early and often.

In blackjack it is suckouts.Last trip dealers hitting 5 and 6 card 20s and 21s seemed to be the norm.
Instead of being smart and walking, I felt something in my brain go BBOOOIIIINNNNGGG!!!
    Start pressing like a madman.
    Not a happy ending!!!

I'll do it when I've put too much money in one machine. Then I start stupidly thinking it is "due" to hit, so I start shoveling more money in and usually up my bet as well. Sometimes this pays off - more often then not it doesn't.

Believe it or not a big win puts me on tilt. I start going through the cash like a drunken sailor when I have alot more than I expect to have betting big and taking riskier chances. So instead of winning, it goes back leaving me angry and asking myself how can I just give it back when I could actually have won.

On the bright side, my ADT goes thru the roof on days like that. I'm not a sailor but I am usually drunk. :)

I was on tilt last trip at MSS, playing VP ... and not able to get anything going ... down a couple hundred. Another guy sits down right next to me, puts in a C-note for 400 credits, and starts playing Double Bonus. Within 2 minutes, he hits quad 3's ... then quad Aces ... and quad after quad after quad. In less than 20 minutes, he had his meter up to over 2700 credits, having the time of his life. I couldn't stand it any longer, and left .... :grrr:

I only go on tilt if I lose a large portion of my bankroll in a short amount of time. Which sometimes happen when I play limits far past my bankroll capacity and have a rough outing.

A lot of the things people have mentioned including:

    - alcohol

    - losing a lot of my bankroll

    - losing without getting much play

    - someone on my table winning while I'm losing

    - dealer pulling impossible hands to beat my sure things

    - losing those big splits and doubles with great hands and dealer showing a bust card.

    - being near the end of my trip and not satisfied with the action

    - my wife

When I play baccarat or blackjack, a rude and intimidating dealer can make me emotional, lose my head, and start tilting. How to avoid it? I've learned to walk around the casino, observe, and "select" a table that has a friendly and pleasant looking dealer. Whenever I don't feel comfortable with the dealer, just color up and leave.

When I play video poker, I notice that I normally win pretty well in the early morning and lose at night. When I am getting tired at the late hours, I don't have patience and not play sharply which leads to losing and tilting (chasing the loss). How to avoid it? Go to nice dinner, show or gathering with friends at night. Gamble in the early hours.
