Greetings from Nebraska, just finished up with planning my 4th trip to Vegas since 07. All my previous trips have been to compete in the Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge, this will be first trip just for pleasure. Just an average guy who likes to gamble a little on the side for fun. Although starting to really get serious about playing craps ( my main casino game). However have been known to kill several hours in a poker room too. Planning on catching a show or two this trip with the wife and just unwinding. My last trip in Oct. was a profitable one as I only had to get into my wallet one time while in town and that was to get my bank roll out. Winnings at 3 different casinos essentially paid for my trip. Hope my luck is similar this time but not holding my breath.

Im also from Nebraska!! Heading to Vegas in Sept, and cant wait!!! My trip last year was planned from all the info on this site, and looking fwd to doing it again. Since I consider myself on the older side, (not a spring chicken, but both feet are still outta the grave) we have decided that Downtown will suit us better....Looking fwd to that instead of the hustle and bustle of the strip.

Well I see TSA lifted the ban on pocket knives today so perhaps I can manage a runza or two. I prefer the Vals pizza myself don't have one close.

And thanks Shelby, syb and wagner. @ Shelby I kind of wish I was staying downtown this trip but I had a comped room at The STRAT . I definitely spend more time downtown ( call me sentimental) I just love the vibe of the older casino's. Not too mention my family has some "skeletons in the closet" from the older casinos. HAHA

Don't forget the Dorothy Lynch salad dressing! I'll be there in less than a week. Can't wait. Also from Nebraska, but just packin' $$, not Nebr. unique products.

You don't have a Val's close? Are you located in the panhandle? I love Valentino's, just can't get to one, closest is Ogallala - 2 hours away.

I got some Frings in Ogallala on a cross country drive before. Well at least you can get a Red Baron pizza at Big V's in Dalton, isn't that a spinoff from Valentino's??? :evillaugh

Although most of my trip reports are Cosmo--Wynn based these days, I do have a good Dalton-Gurley trip report in the works if I can ever talk the crew off this NYC-Chicago-Las Vegas rat race.

Omaha area (far southwest exurbs) here.

I make it to LV every few months, do Ameristar and Horseshoe locally fairly regularly.

No south of North Platte, and my closest Val's is the Val's express place there. If I wanna go "Vegas Style" aka a buffet I have to go to Kearney and thats just under 2 hours.

For all us Nebraskans --- let's really test BeeeJay's knowledge....

Which one is a famous (regionally at least) Nebraska Restaurant that is now defunct???
    1. Dreisbach's
    2. Mister C's.

For extra credit --- name the racetrack closest to your selection. LOL.

    That's easy.

But do you include dog tracks in your definition of racetrack?
