I can't seem to figure out the best way to get there and it's a loooong walk that I cannot make. Advice please! We'll be staying at the Rio but spending a lot of time at the Mirage.

If you are staying at RIO, take the free shuttle which leaves from the Carnival World Buffet entrance to Harrah's. Once you are dropped off at Harrah's you will have to just walk across the street to Mirage. The free shuttle runs about every 30 minutes from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. 7 days a week.

So is the best bet to take the monorail from Harrah's down to the end by Luxor?

Sorry I misread your post.....hold one second I will respond again. So from the RIO directly to the Mirage, just take the shuttle from the RIO as I described above. If you are at the Mirage and want to go to the Luxor you will have to take the Monorail from Harrah's to MGM, walk through MGM out the front and across the bridge to NY NY. Walk across the bridge from NY NY to Excalibur, as you cross the bridge to Excalibur stay to your left and follow the signs to the TRAM to the Luxor. Sometimes the TRAM from Excalibur directly to Luxor is not running, so you have to take the TRAM from Excalibur to Mandalay Bay and then take the TRAM back from Mandalay Bay to Luxor, just look for the signs.

If you are going directly from RIO to Luxor then take the free shuttle from RIO to Bally's/Paris and then take monorail from Bally's/Paris station to MGM and then use the above directions.

Some others on here may advise to take public transportation but I'm not an expert on this so I will let others chime in for the public transportation ideas.

You could take the Monorail from Harrah's to the MGM exit. That puts you at the back of the MGM property. Walk through the MGM property to get to the skybridge to NYNY. Then through NYNY casino and take skybridge to Excalibur. From the Excalibur corner, you can either 1. walk into the Excal casino and follow the interior walkway to the Luxor (takes 5 minutes or less for a person of normal mobility) or 2. walk up the incline to the tram entrance and take the free tram from Excalibur to Luxor.

During busy times the interior walkway is much quicker than waiting on crowds at the tram.

There might be times of day (such as maybe 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.) when the strip is not terribly busy.
    I
Hopping into a cab at those times would be super fast & really not too expensive. Remember, the monorail will cost several bucks & involves a bunch of walking.

Go from the Mirage (walk/bus) to the Bellagio and catch the tram to the Monte Carlo and walk to the Excaliber where the tram runs to the Luxor

    Mirage to Luxor

Take the Deuce Bus (the double decker). It runs every 15-20 minutes.

    $6 - 2hour pass
    $8 - 24hour pass
    $20 - 3 day pass (recommended)

You'll have almost no walking and the bus operates 24 hours a day up and down the strip. You literally take the bus from the front of the Mirage to the front of the Luxor. No fuss, no muss.

    -----
My next trip, I won't be getting a rental car and will just use 3 day passes.

Passes work for ALL RTC bus routes (not just the Deuce).

Btw, you can plug in any address for bus routes. Play with it. There are multiple ways back to Rio from Luxor as well.

Bernie's walking suggestion (cheapest) or a taxi (best) are the only options that make sense to me. I can't imagine all the walking (3/4 mile) to utilize a PAY monorail just to save, maybe 8 bucks

Similar route if you are going from Rio to Luxor and free:
Take the free shuttle from Rio to Ballys.
Walk across the street from Bally's to Bellagio.
Take the free tram from Bellagio to The Monte Carlo, then walk next door to NYNY. Then take the walkway over Tropicana Rd. to Excalibur. On your left and up some stairs is another free tram that goes to Luxor/Mandalay Bay or a direct tram to MB. Make sure you get on the correct one!

It's a little bit of walking, probably not more than taking the pay monorail on the East side of the strip, but it is FREE.

R to Ba ....walk to Be.....tram, etc.

This is what I was thinking, however I could not say it as eloquent as Smo......Good job! The free tram from the B to MC, isn't that tough to find ( and at the back of the resorts )? Do not forget the KK donuts over between the EX and L.....

    Awww, and thanks!
Now that you mentioned the Krispy Kreme donuts..........I can't wait that long when I take this same route in the mornings, so I stop in at NYNY and get some as soon as you walk in. On your left across from the sports book is a snack shop that sells them. I always get 2 KK's, find a close slot machine, throw in a twenty, and hack away while I enjoy this wonderful concoction of sugar and fat. :evillaugh

    Lol. Ahaaa

You hit that on the way back.

Otherwise that's a lotta extra walking for a heart attack. Lol

    I love KK Donuts.

    Plus anyway you've got

....where you can walk into Excal, hit the tram, or walk all the way through so you hit KK first. :licklips:

I did the Goretorium and liked it but it wasn't worth their normal asking price.

I thought it would be....scarier. Plus, the drinks at Baby Dolls were too expensive for the offerings. The view of the strip at night is great, however.

Anyway, the Goretorium's production value is hiGH. Not worth $34 tho'.

Wow - what a crazy thread.

Original question is a bit confusing. Getting from Mirage to Luxor is way different than RIO to Luxor.

Then it shifts over to staying at Excal and questions about the CSI thing.

Time to get another drink for me.

I would just take the deuce. RTC bus system is the cheapest mode of transport around. The deuce and SDX lines are great, they will get you from Mandalay Bay all the way to down to Fremont for just a few bucks.
