I've heard the cosmopolitan has the best drinks while playing, and was wondering what everyone's favorite specialty drink is there. I will be staying and playing there in two weeks and have not spent any considerable time there before. Looking for opinions on favorite drinks and what's in them.

The Bond Bar in the front is cool.

Mostly had the cosmo's & dirty vodka martini's. Both were great.

From what I've seen each bar has a separate specialty menu and it rotates seasonally. Like I went ice skating last month and boulevard had a menu, then downstairs at bond they had a different menu.

Bond makes excellent drinks but specialty drinks run around 10-15. I don't believe they bring specialty drinks to players but they do do most top shelf, I've had knob creek bourbon and goose vodka on thereafter vp.

Did you have to play at a high(er) level to get the knob creek? Love me some KC!

I often get a Raspberry Lemondrop while playing slots. It is amazingly good. As you might suspect, you can also get an excellent Cosmopolitan.

The raspberry lemon drop and Cosmo were the kind of drinks I was looking for, wasn't sure if you could get those while playing. Thanks for the info.

At the Bond Bar you can get those for free if playing BJ or VP at the Bar.

I just got back yesterday and the Bond bar was the highlight of our trip.

When playing the bartop slots as long as you are playing at the $1 level then you are good. The minimum play for video BJ is $1 so if the bartender sees BJ playing on your screen then he knows you are meeting the minimums.

Our bartender very nicely said, "If you play at the $1 level then I can take care of the drinks for you." He never sweated our play after that.

VERY VERY professional bartenders at the Bond. They are very good at what they do. We sat there watching him make drinks and he sampled each and every drink he served to make sure that it tasted right. If it was wrong, he would not hesitate remake it.

Be sure to try the "Don Johnson" (not on the menu) and the "Lemon Drop Martini". They were the highlights of the evening.

I had "Sex on the Beach" and it was pretty good.

Also, they serve a drink by that name at Cosmopolitan. ;)

When I got to Bond it was on a Friday at noon so there were not a lot of people at the bar. Me and my wife chatted up the bartender and pretty much told him to feel free to make whatever he wanted to. He asked us a few baseline questions and whatever he suggested we tried. EVERYTHING we drank was superb! The bar wasn't busy at all and we talked with the guy for quite some time. Good conversation made our experience even better.

My only regret is not going back later in the day when the DJ and go go dancers do their thing. Gonna do that on my next trip for sure!

Not to get too mathy here, but aren't their VP paytables pretty bad? I was thinking someone said they were 7/5, but maybe they're 8/5. At some point, I wonder whether it's better just to buy the drinks if you have to play at the $1 level just to get them comped? I definitely want to try to play there, though, b/c that bar is very cool. I'd love to hear more about the drinks the bartenders made. Any involving bourbon, or mostly rum and vodka based drinks?

I'm just glad to hear that the drinks at Cosmopolitan are better these days. I went not long after opening, and found that their ambition far outweighed their talent.

Specifically, I ordered an Aviation, which is a well-known, classic cocktail; nobody knew it, and I tried at Bond, The Henry, and Chandelier. Which is fine, I'm used to explaining it. But what made things worse was when I told the guy at The Henry that it was 4 parts gin, 1 part lemon juice, and 1 part Maraschino liqueur, and he proceeded to switch the ratios for the gin and the Maraschino. Let me tell you, 4 parts Maraschino, 1 part gin, and 1 part lemon juice does not a delicious cocktail make.

Honestly, my best advice is to go and have them come up with something for you. We've spent many an hour with Jenni and Heather at Book and Stage, and we have never ordered a drink. We just tell them what we like or feel like, and they create something heavenly. Heather blew us away last time with shots that tasted exactly like chocolate-covered pretzels (her shot that tasted like a white Gummi bear wasn't bad either). The VP paytables aren't great, but as long as you're basically playing the drinks are free, and they are the best drinks you'll have.

Very valid question. My wife was alternating between poker and BJ, I was playing only BJ. She said that the paytable was 9/5 on whatever variation she was playing.

Like I had said earlier, the bartender only asked us to play at the $1 only once to start things off. After that I slow played the hell out of video BJ and he honestly didn't seem to care after that initial buy-in. For me it was worth getting the comped drinks.

I sat there for over two hours sampling around 5 different handmade cocktails (@ $15 a pop) playing video BJ at my own pace and ended up $10. So I tipped the bartender $10 and walked. Total out of pocket expense? Zero.

I say that is about as good as it gets.

Sageblue, someone asked for a "Gummi Bear" drink at Bond and our bartender said they weren't doing those at that time. It is my understanding that each bar in Cosmo have their own drink menu each of which have their own drinks exclusive to that bar. The bar between the 1st and 2nd floor "known as floor 1.5" has a drink made with an edible flower as garnish. The upper bar has a drink made from raspberries frozen with liquid nitrogen. Interesting stuff.

How about while playing in the main part of the casino? Is it pretty easy to score free drinks while playing quarter VP? I don't always play max coins unless I'm doing well. I have yet to visit Cosmopolitan and would like to check it out.

Service will be slow, but you'll be able to get free drinks. Not the same kinds of custom drinks mentioned here though.

Yeah, that was a Heather special, so YMMV depending on where you go, but I'd really recommend Book and Stage, especially during the day when they're working.

We played quarter VP at a snail's pace and they were able to comp us, so I also think it's about what kind of relationship you build with the bartenders.
