Got the itch bad, and need to scratch it by doing a post here.

T-1 week for the annual March Madness trip.

We usually go the weekend of the major conference tourneys, but our work calendar is messed up this year -- forcing us to go a week early. Will still be a lot of games, with the major conferences finishing up the reg season, and the smaller conferences having their tournaments.

There will be 6 guys and 1 gal on this trip, all from the same general area, but all coming and going at different times. Each likes to do their own thing....some only pay sports, some pay tables, some slots, some shopping, some don't eat at all, some never miss a meal....it's a diverse group. But the one common denominator is beer....and lots of it!!!

I arrive on Wednesday on Southworst in the midafternoon. Staying until last bird out on Monday.

    Hotels are:
Hooters for one night $19 + resort fee (never stayed here, like to play VP at the bar and eat wings here though....but never got a card, thinking I'd never stay --- opps!! Now I want to cross it off my list of places I've tried.)
LVH - comped for 3 nights.
Plaza - comped for one night. Got $200 in free play, and an unlimited tab at Oscar's. Really like my host here.

Gonna be lots of basketball bet --- lots of Budweiser consumed --- lots of blackjack and craps --- and something new this trip, hopefully much more VP this trip.

Sounds fun, I will be at the Plaza on Easter weekend, and I am starting to get the fever bad! WIll be there for the Elite 8, would have liked to be there for the sweet 16 and Elite 8, but thats too much work to miss and wife cant leave work at end of the month. Gonna be alot of fun, ready to just relax with a few drinks, play some slots/vp and watch some great basketball! Have fun, I know you will!

The wife and I are headed out 03/27 returning 04/02 for the sweet 16 and elite 8. We usually go for the Final Four but are jonesing for more basketball this year. Three game Final Four weekend is just not enough any more. Not sure that we are ready to step up to opening weekend so we will see how it goes this year.

Have fun at LVH and Plaza. I would love to stay downtown sometime but the wife is a bit of a strip snob.

Make sure to leave some beers in Vegas for the rest of us coming out later in the month.

Darkace - our dates are the same as yours.. :) Question for everyone... since we are there for the Sweet 16 and not opening weekend...are the sportbooks the best place to watch the games?
Hope you have a great trip tmaas....

You can get by watching the Sweet 16 at many bars, while you play VP or whatnot, just because there aren't so many games to track. The sportsbook is always a good option --- but not necessarily the only option when the number of games is dwindling.

T-6 days now!!! Getting harder and harder to sit in the chair at work. LOL

One thing to watch for playing VP at Hooters. The bartops pay about 2% less than the VP in the rest of the casino, at least at DDB. You get an 8-5 paytable vice a 9-6 in other places in the casino. That's a pretty significant difference, and the drink service is really good in Hooters, so the bartops aren't a huge advantage in that regard.

Thanks for the advice Mike --- I appreciate it.
I'm a longtime poker, BJ, and craps player -- but am wanting to give VP a try. So I'm open for any/all tips and tricks.

I want to check out Hooters on this trip (specifically their pool) and play enough to generate some offers --- which I don't think will be hard. That way if I like the pool, and can stomach the room, I will spend a couple days there in May on my two week trip.
