Hey, my boyfriend and I are staying at the Stratosphere . We're staying in one of the select newer rooms. Any thoughts, comments or suggestions?? What about "The Top of the World" Restaurant?

    Can you change your reservation?

I strongly recommend staying between Mirage and Monte Carlo on the west side of the street or Flamingo and Planet Hollywood on the east side of the street. That way everything is within easy walking distance and you don't even really need to take the bus unless you want to go downtown once. The Stratosphere is in the middle of nowhere and the neighborhood is not nice either.

the place was recently renovated and has a nice interior. restaurants are nothing special, but the machines in the casino as well as table games have better odds than most of the strip. No better view to see all of las vegas than at the top of the tower. I stayed there once and have no regrets about it. I really enjoyed it. Short bus trip to downtown if that's something you want to do, same goes for the rest of the strip. Area is not as bad as people say it is. Anyone i've known personally who stayed there had nothing but positives to say about it.

The Top of the World is a fine choice, DiL and I ate there last March. The view is amazing and while we were eating there were people doing the bungee jump off the top! It was not my favorite meal in Vegas, that would have to be Vic & Anthony's at the Golden Nugget, but it was very good and the service was excellant.

You'll have fun. A couple ladies from my office swear by The STRAT and stay there often... they love it. It's true, it's kinda in "no man's land", but a cab ride can fix that. As you'd expect, the view from up top is incredible and if you're adventurous, try the rides!

Not to forget IHOP is a very short walk away. Yeah the renovated rooms are pretty nice and the bus stop right downstairs is very convenient.

Hey thank you everyone who responded! This is my 3rd time going to Vegas, The first hotel we stayed at was the riviera, which for my first time i had a great time, next was Excalibur, both have been positive experiences so I'm hoping to add the Stratosphere to the list as well! Everyone has there pros and cons and I was just looking to get the feel for it so thank you very much!!

As long as you are OK with the location / your transportation (walk, bus, monorail, cab, car), you'll have a good time at the Stratosphere. I liked being very close to downtown, having quick express bus access either way (to downtown or the strip via SDX), being within a couple of blocks walk to Luv It Custard, and the low minimum gambling for pai gow, bacarat and blackjack. You can gamble with decent table odds and have a good time drinking.

The remodeled Stratosphere rooms were in better shape then the standard rooms at the lower tiered CET/MGM hotels. I also like having the tower pass as a guest (free trips for you and guests to the top) and watching the cheesy bungie cord drop channel in room. They have a continuous live feed of the top of the tower, with film of the person falling to the bottom - the same version they sell to those who wish to purchase on DVD for their jump.

My dad and sister reported that the rooms are really nice for what you pay. Location is pretty much terrible unless you like staying on property where you stay. The tower is neat once or twice. Rides aren't worth the cost, IMO.

Dont forget to stop in the Aztec Inn right next door! You wont believe your eyes!

Even at night the monorail might be a bit deserted but its not a big deal. Everyone makes the neighborhood out to be some crime infested ghetto, not the case at all! Its fine, Ive walked from the Sahara or Monorail to Strat many many times late at night and never felt one bit afraid. There is even a little liquor store/conv store between the two on the right side of the road. The lady in there is very nice!

i just got back from the stratosphere with my fiance. we liked it. the bus was right across the street. im guessing about a 10 minute bus ride to the main strip. The rooms were clean, staff were friendly. the italian place they have in there is amazing food. We aso tried Roxys and Mcalls. Mcalls was another great place to eat. we never did eat at the top. we found it to be a bit expensive. but the observation deck is beautiful. We really loved the buffet and the nightly happy hours. I would recommend it
