Flying out of Milwaukee yesterday to Phoenix. We went to the desk and asked if they needed any volunteers? I was taking a shot because of all the weather and flight changes. Her initial answer is none needed but her supervisor is standing next to her and he says take down our info and book us on the next flight that day, just in case.

Anyway an hour before the flight they call us up. So instead of flying out at 12:55 PM, we left at 4:50 PM. Total of vouchers $862 good for one year, plus one, one way flight anywhere. Don't know why we got that also, but I wasn't going to argue.

Way to go Joe! So tell us, did they also buy you lunch and give you some free drink coupons?

If fly outta MKE for LAS first thing Monday morning and thought about asking just in case any residual effects from the storm were felt. Had to call the car rental place to see how long they'd hold my reservation for and it's only 3 hours. I scored a mustang convertible for only 88.00 for all 5 days and don't wanna lose that deal, but, I guess for the right price from the airline, I could be persuaded. Glad you scored such a big hit!

    Thank you for the tip

JOE, When I get in the mood I may ask if my seat is needed. Sometimes I see families who may need an extra seat for another last minute relative flying with them. I can volunteer if needed.

Southwest in Burbank airport always has several flights to Vegas all day.
It only takes one hour to fly. Lucy

I usually ask all the time, but MKE is one of the places that is difficult for me to score at. Congrats Joe.

Nothing because it was only a 4 hour delay. Of course I tried for the free drink coupons, whether at the airport, or the plane, but they declined.

So, the breakdown was me flying as my wife's companion, and I got a $400 voucher. She got a $462 voucher, plus the one way free flight. Hell, I don't know why she got extra, but I'm not complaining.

We spent too much time at the MKE airport bars, so by the time we finally boarded, only one drink each for the 3 hr flight.

I guess I really lucked out with Delta when I was bumped in October. In addition to the $400 voucher, I got lunch ($12), a couple free drink coupons, a better seat, and the delay was only 1 hour! I've tried volunteering at the gate before without success, but in October I received a popup message asking for volunteers when I checked in on-line the day before. It's great when a trip starts out that way.

Its been so long since we actually got a bump, I forgot all about asking for a lunch voucher. I should have asked:poke: and they didn't volunteer that information.
Oh well, we're still happy with the vouchers.

My question is can the voucher be swapped/traded/converted to points to me that is the best of both worlds ?
