What's your plan B since CET is rolling out resort fees? Off strip? Downtown? Skip Vegas entirely? Cut back on frequency of trips? Shorter trip? Buy an RV? Suck it up? I'm curious.

My next trip, in May, was booked before this news broke, so it's not a decision I have to make yet. However, my initial thought is that downtown is going to get even more of my attention than before. Previous trips have consisted of half strip, half downtown. Now, with renovations to Golden Gate and Fitz/D, I really think it's a better option to stay downtown and only 'visit' the strip for a night or two.

I think the Elara, formerly PH Towers, has no fee and is part of Hilton. I'm sure the chain hotels off the strip don't charge either.

I do not like resort fees. We usually spend 3 nights and I am not going to let
$45 to $75 ruin my trip. (So suck it up)

I have no plan B. I don't mind resort fees - I factor them in as part of my total cost and evaluate where I want to stay, period. I don't get comped and have no brand loyalty for gambling at this point, and besides most of my trips to Vegas have a business component these days so I decide based on location.:peace:

Venetian/Palazzo waived them on my last trip and asked if I wanted them waived for my 2 upcoming trips which I do. When I am staying somewhere that won't waive them, I will make it a point to take advantage of everything it covers.

Vegas isn't the only place that charges them so I have learned to live with them, but it is the only place I know of that charges them at dumps.

I intend to avoid them! In most cases they are too high for what you get.
They are charging for what was traditionally free! What if everyone did that?
How would you like extra charges from your teachers or nurses.

My question is, if you are on COMP, will they cover you (internet). I know at MGM when I am comped, they through in the resort fee (internet). I really do not mind paying for the internet, because I use it. So if CET plays games and not cover the resort fee, I might be changing up again.

I will NOT stay at any property that is going to charge me a ridiculous resort fee ... for things that I do not intend to use anyway. There are plenty of other hotels in Vegas that will not do that.

Let them eat those empty rooms !!!!

Well said. I factor in the resort fee when booking, and look at anything it includes as a plus.

    LolaDoggie, GREAT question!

I would just suck it up.

But I feel so much better showing no loyalty and no consideration for any company.

CET's hypocrisy was the final straw in knowing how little these companies value loyal customer's response. They want to bring in NEW customers who are not aware of how things "should" be. And they will bring them in with candy too at the expense of loyal customers.

I guess we all knew the time would come. I still love Vegas, yet I will show these companies as much value as they have shown us. How I will do that? I am yet to figure out. But I will start with severely limiting my bankroll from them in all capacities.

I'll still go wherever I can get the cheapest decent room on the strip. It may end up pushing me back to MLife properties just because they are nicer.

I want to say "Screw you, Caesars" and tell them I'm never coming back because of their resort fees, but the truth is I've been spending more time downtown anyway where my dollar goes farther. When the wife comes, we usually rent a car so I think in the future we'll look at more off-strip properties like South Point or M.

I'd still tell first-timers to stay on the strip, and if we go with another couple we'll probably stay on the strip with them. But dollar-for-dollar it looks like MGM properties are now a better deal than CET properties.

:confused2:This is what I am wondering also as our rooms are comped at CET and it would be very upsetting if we were charged the resort fee as most of the other propertys don't charge on a comp---so waiting to see what the answer is from CET

we used to split our stay. half strip and half DT. We are now exclusively DT ppl. better deals and a better vibe.....for us YMMV.

    I'll pay it.

First, due to work I must have internet access so that really takes care of $15/day of any resort fee... since most resort fees, at least at the places I stay, fall in the area of $15-25/day - I'm not going to cry over $5-10 a day extra.

Secondly, the places I choose to stay are the places I choose to play - and those places comp me free hotel rooms. I am not going to "stick it to the man" and go pay $80-100 per night at a place I probably don't want to play at (since they'd likely be giving me comp rooms then) just to avoid paying $15-25 per night at a nice hotel with a casino I want to gamble in.

And thirdly, I am not going to go with the alternative to go on the cheap and stay at a craphole or some place out in the middle of nowhere in a $10-15 per night room to have a net gain of $5-10 over a $20-25 resort fee - when I am on vacation I like to live it up, not slum it in a dump or restrict my activities or choices.

And I hate to say it, but I can just picture that there are some dummies out there that are going to do something like give up their otherwise free rooms at Flamingo to avoid a $25 resort fee and end up staying in a $20 room downtown and then spending $10 per day and an hour or more of their vacation time each day go to and from The Strip and thinking they "won" because they aren't paying that pesky resort fee.

    My Plan B

I already have three visits planned for Vegas. I don't plan to go back after those Vegas trips because I am bored with Vegas.

It is time for me to go back to cruise ships. I have two cruises already planned
out on Princess cruise line. Lucy

I'll be staying home more. When I think of how well we get spoiled at Blue Chip here, I wonder why I even bother with Vegas in the first place. The resort fees for a four night trip in Vegas would pay for a facial at Spa Blu and the Premium Outlet Mall is a few minutes a way. We have tons of fun there even before we start gambling.

I'm sure there will be a reason to go back to Vegas but right now there is nothing on the horizon that I have to do or see.
