Hi all, looking to do a day trip to Red Rock or Green vally ranch casinos. We don,t hire a car so would be looking to use thier free shuttles from the strip. Do you know if they are just for thier hotel guests or for the general public and which resort would be the best for the day. thanks Tour

I have never taken a shuttle to either one - I usually do the rental car thing - there used to be a shuttle to Red Rock that left from the Fashion Show Mall but I am not sure that it is still in operation. Here is a link to the available shuttles on the LVA website - Red Rock is no longer listed and neither is Green Valley Ranch. You might want to call each place to verify if they are still offering this service.

As for which one is better for a day trip, I would say Green Valley Ranch. It is very large and there is also an outdoor mall where you can browse in various shops as well as a few good places to eat like Lucille's BBQ (it gets crowded, so get there early or you might have a good wait!). I like Red Rock but there is less to do there to make it an outing for a whole day (I usually drive there and have enough of it after a couple of hours) if you decide you don't like the gaming selections offered. The M Resort - which does offer a shuttle from The Fashion Show Mall - is another option if you can't do the other two, and they have a few really good dining options including a Hash House A Go Go with a gorgeous view from the huge windows. And if for some reason you stay later than the last shuttle you can get a cab back to the Strip for about $25, which is not terrible.

I have never been to GVR, and it is on my list of something I do want to see. I have been to Red Rock, and JR brought up the M out there, and I think the M is much nicer then Red Rock. Might be me, but I like the layout better.

If you don't have a car, forget about going to either place.
There are public buses that will transport you, but those routes, especially to GVR, last forever.

    I must agree with chef.

we rented a car on a past trip so we drove to red rock resort and canyon and we commented that it would take forever to get there by bus.

we also went to gvr but don`t recall how far that was.

Red Rock is wonderful! I'd suggest going there :) beautiful casino, movie theatre, restaurants. It's a good get away from the strip.

But yea, it's about 25 minutes away.. not sure how you would get there. I wouldn't go if you have to pay to get there. If you had a car and you could explore the canyon, and hang at the casino and make a proper trip of it, then do it other wise stay on the strip.

With a car Red Rock would be the better choice. You could hit the scenic drive through Red Rock Canyon, maybe even hike a trail. But if you're relying on public transport I would check out a different locals casino. The M, mentioned already would be a good choice.

I just looked into the Red Rock shuttle last week. From what I was able to learn they used to run a free shuttle from Fashion Show Mall for anyone, they now ask to see your room card to ride it.

Also learned that it's about a $50 cab ride each way and there's a bus that runs from the old Sahara to Red Rock but it takes about 90 minutes or so. :faint:

Red rock casino and other places

We decided to go to Red Rock CANYON next month, for some hiking, in a rented van. Next we will be headed to Red Rock casino, perhaps to Suncoast casino ( 2/1 buffet ), then over to The STRAT to see wassup ( the tower ), then to see the porn stars ( pawn stars, that's how my wife says it ). Also going to zipline at the Fremont Streeet Experience. If you have the rental, might as well use it well. JMHO.
