I have Hard Rock for $38 and Hooters for $29. HR has an amazing pool I would like to enjoy but I also like Hooters pool, which is not as dynamic but fun. Hooters is closer. Hooters is close to the strip. HR has a terrible casino for play and for options...and for other casinos in the area. But I will be staying at an inn next to HR the following night. I expect HR to kill Hooters' room in the question of comfort and atmosphere. But Hooters room is doable. I heard about Lucky cafe that's 24/7 at HR but I do not know if it's any good because the other dining options do not appeal to me. On the other hand, I have enjoyed dining at the restaurant at Hooters (not Hooters restaurant).

What do you think? This is a serious inquiry lol.

Hooters has superb video poker at levels down to a quarter (not at the bartops) if that's of interest to you. VPFree doesn't do justice to what's actually there. So if that's your thing, I recommend it.

They're extremely quick to give free offers for future stays with very little play.

I double booked there and had a room I didn't use, but went into it last year. It wasn't good. I'm not 100% sure I'd get in that tub.

Craps is $5. The $3 BJ they advertise is mostly a gimmick...there's usually one table and it's full. And they have the worst BJ rules.

I bought into the craps table for $500, and had tourists looking at me like I was a High Roller, which was kind of funny.

It's a very easy walk to the Trop and the MGM, so you've got the MGM restaurants and food court. Oh, and there's a liquor store next door.

Hooters also has perhaps the best drink service I've ever had except the one time I tipped a waitress $15 at Excalibur and then couldn't get rid of her.

The service in general, from the check in to everything else, the people were strikingly nice.

Sco ... it really comes down to what you want.
Do you want the nicer room or do you want the ability to walk to the strip easily?
Dont forget to add in the resort fees Hooters resort fee is around $11 after tax and HRH is $20ish.

As for the pools.... you are right .. the Hooters pool does always look fun, but it is smaller compared to Hard rock.
Drink service is awesome at hooters and there are almost always Slots and low limit tables available. Although I dont think i've ever won anything on their slots.
The other benefit is dining options. If you don't want to eat at hooters or the mad onion (which has really good prime rib for 10 bucks).... you can just walk across the street or right down the strip. If you are at hard rock and dont want to eat there you are taking a long walk or a cab.
Hooters is definately working hard to re-image itself and be the next new hot up and comer. --- either way I always had fun there.

We have played BJ MANY times at the "HOOT"....going way back it was still $2 per hand......GREAT cocktail service because it's such a small casino....NEVER had a problem getting on the $3 BJ table.....if they are full just ask the pit boss to open another one....did this twice...but I think they might remember us....usually go there in the morning for breakfast but hardly ever make it into the restaurant.....breakfast ends up being Blood Mary's for about 4-5 hours....never did get their players card....probably should....we usually stay at MGM Grand but their offers have seem to dry up.....next trip coming up we are staying at Harrah's on a comp, so probably won't get down to the "HOOT".

So my pick would be the "HOOT" without question....either way have FUN and please leave few dollars at the "HOOT" so it don't close...there is always rumours they are closing...LOL...when we asked the dealers they just laughed and say they see no closing in the future.

My vote is the Hard Rock and its not even close. I like the atmosphere at the HR and the rooms there can be very nice and at a great price. I don't think I'd stay at Hooters if it was free and everyone else was charging me. That's just me, though, and I usually have a rental when in Vegas.

HR has some nice restaurants too, Lucky's is quick and inexpensive.

This is my thinking and maybe you can relate.

Although we spend the majority of the time at our home casino we still like to walk the strip in the morning, come back play some games, go back out in the afternoon and back home in the evening to stay.

We also make a number of trips back to the room for a change of cloths, shoes, nap and if I am lucky a quickie. :evillaugh

If we stayed at HR it would cost a fortune in cab fare while Hooters gives you options.

Plus, sometimes you seem to have some bad luck and simply want to change casinos, being at Hooters makes it easy as you have plenty of options within walking distance.

Especially at night. I have no issues walking to Hooters from the strip but wouldn't walk to HR from the strip at night.

Hmmmmmm... wonder which property I'm gonna weigh in on???

Hard Rock for sure... I think Hooter's is one of the dumpiest joints in town, BUT I have read several recent articles and press-releases that they're not going "down" without a fight and promise some upcoming positive things. That said, I realize the HRH rarely gets much love on this board outside of a few of us, but it's a well maintained property and at this point Hooter's is not.

    I like hooters.

I have never felt the vibe at hr. Same with the palms, just never got into either one of those places.

Maybe because i think they cater to posers and wannabes. Just my opinion.

    Hooters just does its thing.

Hooters to me is kind of run down, but it is a better location. Personally I would not stay at either property, but if I had to chose I would opt for HR and deal with the transportation costs.

    I've stayed at both.
It depends what you are looking for.
If you want a resort and a nice room go Hard Rock. It is very nice for this.
If you want a strip location, cheap gambling, and a convenient place to lay your head at night, with little care for the room go with Hooters.

Went to the HR once... never went back again.

The HR is a place you stay where you don't really leave that area. To Be honest its all around a ******y place

hooters is a great location. Ive stayed there it is doable. The graveyard menu at The Mad Onion is awesome.

thanks for all the comments. I am reminded why hooters is not so bad and how the vibe at hr is horrible despite having excellent rooms and pool. After considering, I would have chosen hooters but a free luxor room from my vegas came up so I will go with that!

You are going to have a $20+ difference per night because of the resort fees. If the $ doesn't bother you then stay at the Hard Rock as the rooms will probably be nicer. I always thought the casino sucked because of it's size though.

Have you been there since they expanded it a few years ago? I really like the vibe of the casino, great music playlist. Couple of new restaurant additions like Culinary Dropout are great as well

I have not been there. I'll have to put it back on my list of places to go to again.

    Hard Rock shuttle to Strip

    Hello,
Is there a HR shuttle that goes near MGM/PH? LV Advisor says so ( I think ). Does the shuttle go near the Polo Towers? Appreciated any info. Thanks ( too long of a walk from strip IMHO ).
