naw, that's just fancy wording to make it sound bigger than it really is. she didn't really lose $1B of her money. it says right there she won $1B and lost even more. they're talking about $1B in "winnings" from w2-gs. i'm sure anybody who plays serious slots gets w2-gs for millions a year. hell every double bar or bigger is another w2-g. she might have lost $10-15M or something of her own money.

My mom told me that she would see The ex mayor at the casino all the time. Apparently she liked to play vp. I can see the W2's pile up if you're playing the $10, $25 and up vp at Barona, let alone Vegas

You're spot on shifter! I read another article with more detail and she lost $13M of her own money.

Also 4Hours2Vegas is right, it states she played video poker but I imagine that at least a lot of her play was at higher than the $10 or $25, the nicer strip casinos have $50 and $100 machines where you would get W2Gs fairly often.

Oddly enough she actually played really well if you think about it in terms of optimal strategy! Not like a Terry Watanabe making ridiculous plays.

they say that like it's so incredible. at $100 slots $200 per spin, you could do that in a couple of hours a day easy. there's so much misinformation out there ...

I read the article this morning. It's a very sad story. I'm sorry I don't understand the numbers better.
