I've now gone 40 years without the pleasure of getting a hot lather shave by a barber or in a nice salon by an attractive lady. Im not looking to break the bank here, but what is the best place on the strip for an old fashioned shave? I figure if I do it during the middle of my 4 day trip, I won't have to pack a razor!

The barber shop in the El Cortez does good old fashioned straight razor shaves

Since you said on the strip, I can speak from personal experience, the "Royal Shave" at the spa / barber shop in Aria is amazing. I forget what it cost, but it was a real treat nonetheless.

On the strip? I have no idea.

Downtown, go to the barber shop located upstairs in the El Cortez. I wish I could find a barber at home that took that much time and care into everything he does.

If you're looking for a fancy looking location, find somewhere else.

If you want a genuine hot lather, straight edge shave, then go there. You will not be disappointed.

    I'll second the Aria recommendation.
Its a little pricey (maybe about $80 for the Royal Shave??), but they do a fantastic job, and they have a really nice setup, with a nice comfortable chair, a big screen tv, and top-notch shaving supplies.

Art of Shaving has a good reputation. There is one in Fashion Show Mall, Venetian and Mandalay Bay. Their website lists the Royal Shave for $55

I have had three "Royal Shaves" at the Art of Shaving at the Mandalay Bay Shoppes. The last one was last December. It is a great experience. I can't say that you will have an attractive female do the honors; but I highly recommend Jack, one of the barbers there. He is a real artist with a razor. I started using their shaving products a year and a half ago, and now I am getting the closest shaves that I have ever had.

Just checked, Royal Shave at Aria is 65. Worth every penny... do it once.

whatever you've heard, they're all true.
I'm going back to Aria next month, and the first thing I'm gonna do is go for a shave.

I believe he's answering the thread's question, "Best Place for a shave?"

Where is the Art of Shaving store located in Aria? I only passed through there one time on my last trip in 2010.

It is in their spa/salon. Though I do not believe it is called the Art of Shaving, just their salon. I can recommend it, had one on January 21st trip and booked one for my upcoming March Trip. Have had one at Venetian also which was very nice as well.

The master barber in Wynn gets very good reviews from mantec.

Top tip, if you use a shaving brush then bring your own because they don't provide one anymore. It's a health department BS type thing.

How new is this? Or is it just a Nevada thing? I've been to the Art of Shaving a couple of times here in NY as well as in DC and Boston, they always used the brush. Last time was around last summer.

By the way to the OP: as nice as getting a shave from an attractive lady sounds I think you keep it old school and get it from a master barber in a nice club room type barber shop setting. Art of Shaving is like that out here so I imagine its the same in Vegas.

I'll have to try the Royal Shave at Aria whenever I stay there again after all these reputable reviews.

I should have said, not based on my experience. It was in the review by mantec, who is a shaving blogger. This was in his video where he gets a shave at the Wynn.

I just rechecked the video and the barber states that the state of Nevada does not allow them to use their brushes anymore.

I had one at the Wynn and although it was a nice experience, at the end of the day I could do a better job shaving than what I got. I would try the salon at Bellagio however.
