Now it's the big holiday halfway between New Years and Patty's Day. Most people hate tv commercials ,for a week they love them. Half time shows ,they never show the college bands at halftime any more during college game coverage ,just replays of the first half scores you've seen 6 times already.

You will watch WELL OVER 300 commercials during the SB....as there are about 300 for a regular season game.

    Why can't it be both?

A football game and big holiday.

The first Super Bowl I remember watching was the Jets upset win over the Colts, which I believe was Super Bowl III, I think I was 8 or 9. I've seen 'em all since then and IMHO this is one event that's improved with age. I love that it's become a family and friends event and I love that the whole country and much of the world pauses to celebrate this day. It's fun! I also know there are those you say and even post here that, "I don't watch football"... to that I say... "you're weird and I don't understand you!"

I guess I miss the days when the focus was more on the game .

Esp.when you had teams of misfits like Oakland who were great press in themselves and you didnt need celebrities and rock stars. The AFL-NFL rivalry was a great thing. I know things change ,we do have better tv's at least ,we have friends over, but I'll grab my food and drinks during the commercials and half time.

Honestly, snow is the best thing that could happen to that game. I'm firmly convinced the Winter Classic wouldn't have caught on had it not been such a snowy mess (in the best possible way) back in 2008.

I have never been a big fan of the superbowl. What i cant stand is the overblown hype.

Take for example you have a favorite tv series. Do you expect a bigger, better, more over the top episode next week or even next season or do you just want to watch another episode?

Same thing happens to sequels of movies, they cant just make a cintinuation o fthe forst, always has to be bigger and better. Usually they seem to think we want to see more muppets too, cant figure that one out but look no farther then star wars.

I would love to see a superbowl at lambeau field. without the packers of course.

I remember one year during the 90's as halftime started, you turned it to MTV and there was a special Beavis and Butt-Head so you didn't have to watch some lame performer lip sync.

It's about time a northern outdoor stadium got the super bowl again. Didn't think the powers to be would ever let it happen again.

Let's hope they keep doing it. Football was meant to be played in the rain, cold, sleet, and snow. The best team might not win, but it is still a lot of fun to watch.

Actually the NFL is very hypocritical giving NJ/NY a Super Bowl. When I lived in Kansas City the NFL told the Chiefs that unless a roof is put on Arrowhead there is no way they will get one. Weather is alot nicer in KC than in Jersey.

Agreed, Philly put a up a brand new stadium a few years ago and they said the same thing to them. Something about the press et al all wanting a warm weather party town.

The reason NY/NJ is getting a Super Bowl is partly because of 9/11

We'll see how well that goes over next year. 95% of Super Bowl goers are corporate fat cats that could give 2 shits about football. They only go just to say they went. Add in 10 degree weather and I bet it will go over really well.
