Vdara panoramic suite or Bellagio Salone Suite. First timer to Vegas. Rates are almost identical.

Since its your first stay, bellagio hands down. You won't want your first time to be at a non gaming resort... Whether or not you plan to play. Get the full experience IMHO

I agree with Centerfield about staying in a gaming hotel on your first trip but you need to be aware the Salone Suite is not a real"Suite" in the sense of a seperate bedroom and living room.
It is a larger open room with a seating area in the bedroom.
The other thing is both times I have stayed in a Salone Suite it has been in the Spa Tower which I was not really a fan of.
Vdara rooms are nice but better suite choices in casino hotels if you are looking for a suite with 2 rooms.
    Aria Corner or tower
    Mirage Tower

Not sure how much you are paying, or within or over your budget, but as a first timer in Vegas - you will be out and about alot. There is so much to see. I would NOT suggest vdara no matter how great. It is well off the strip.

Bellagio is way better choice. And, depending on how much you want a suite, I would consider a regular room with a lake view. It is awesome. As said, the Salone suite is a large room with a large bath. Not a true suite in that it does not have a separate living room with door. We have stayed in them a few times, always in the main tower.

First time visitor - how did you come to these two choices?

I don't think Vdara is well off the strip. It's off the strip, yes, but no like Hard Rock off the strip. Getting to the strip from Vdara is about 8-15 minutes walk. You can either walk through Aria, or through Bellagio. The walk through Bellagio is probably longer than going through Aria, but I didn't really think it was that bad when I was there for a week.

One of the things I liked most about Vdara was that it's not a gaming hotel. At night it's really calm and chill in the lobby and it's nice to have a drink at the bar and just go straight up to your room without having to walk through a casino/smoke.

I agree Vdara might be a nice choice for someone if they feel as you do -- having experience walking through the casino, etc...

But for someones first trip, I think its best to get those likes/dislikes on your own. And Bellagio, a gaming resort, on the strip, good eats, a fountain show, good poker room and sports book, great amenities. It is high end but has all the major components of the basic Vegas experience. It is also pricey, but if the OP is looking at >$200 a night rooms at Vdara and Bellagio I would assume they are OK paying Bellagio types of prices for amenities(or planning to gamble at that level. either way.)

    Just my opinion...

Ok let me give some more background information! So obviously its pretty apparent I'm a newby, thanks to everyone so much for the information I'm an east coast resident and making my first trip to LV. I'm heading out with the fiance for this trip, I do not need two bedrooms I do enjoy a larger room though, thus the Suite preference. I would like to stay in a gaming hotel, I honestly didn't know Vdara was without a casino. I will be going on April 28-March 1st Sun-Wed. I have a budget of about 275$ per night for a room, so I know my options are pretty open. So besides the Bellagio, does anyone have any other opinions I should at least take a look at. Thanks again for all the help and opinions!

Check out Venetian/Palazzo (any rooms), Caesars Palace (Augustus Tower) and Flamingo (Go Rooms, but only if you want to save a bit below $275) IMHO. Maybe you can also find a sale on the Grand King rooms at MGM Grand.

Have a great trip! Stay away from Vdara, it is my opinion you will be disappointed and not as likely to hook the fiancee on Vegas :)

As you've probably already realized, your budget will go a long way in Vegas. So, if you could give us a little more info about what sort of trip you're looking to have, it would help us give you more relevant (for you) recommendations.

Are you a foodie? Will you be hitting the clubs, or would you prefer a quiet bar/lounge? Is the pool important? Is the spa important? Are you a degenerate gambler who'll spend most of your waking hours at the tables/machines? Or do you just want to do some sightseeing and have a comfortable room in which to relax/crash?

My generic recommendation would be to check out Encore, Wynn and Aria (my personal favorites). However, there are plenty of other top notch properties that might better suit you.

Tropicana club spa suite. They have a discount code on their website for 50% off. I love that suite.

First time to Vegas. Assume rather young. Will want to get out and about. $275 a night will usually get quite a room for you. Many people find decent rooms closer to $100 and spend the rest on food, shows, etc.

You really want to impress her? Get a nice room at Paris - mid-strip. Pay a little extra for fountain view. Take the extra money and take a helicopter that lands half way down the Grand Canyon for lunch.

I would not do vdara for first visit. Never. Nice place but not for a first timer. Aria as nice corner suite... but it slightly off strip.

    I'll second the Aria recommendation.
with that price point, with the sales that always seem to pop up (especially on this board), I'd say take a look at a Corner Suite, or even better, a Panoramic Corner Suite.

I didn't realize that you didn't know Vdara was non-gaming. In that case I'm going to agree with Centerfieldnine and say that Vdara isn't the best choice for a first timer. Although it is a nice hotel, you have to wrap your head around the idea of a Vegas non-gaming hotel. Anyways, as for a gaming hotel I really like Aria but looking at your dates there really isn't a suite in that range. Also as a first timer, keep in mind that most of the hotels people are suggesting have a $25 ($28 after tax) a day resort fee with them.

I checked the Tropicana rates, with the 50% off they are $264 per night.

The spa suite has 2 bathrooms, 2 rooms, a jacuzzi tub, a huge shower and a sauna. The living room area also has a wet bar area.

And they are now owned by Hilton.

I think that the players club still has their promo on. If you play $200 they will give you some free play back. I can't remember the exact details anymore.

I'll third the Aria recommendation. Notwithstanding my impending visit there (see my timer below!!!), I've been impressed with the overall property.

It's location, while a smidgen farther from the strip than some other properties, technically counts as on the strip. It's not a long walk from the entrance to the street.

Plus, once you get the "drunk legs," distances seem to contract pretty quickly...

 Sure I can walk to Encore! :drunk:

    Have fun and be safe!

    Santé,
    TL

I am a big fan of Aria but for your 4/28 check in date the suites are more expensive.
I highly reccomend a Tower Suite at the Mirage which is under your budget and a great room.
These suites are larger than the Corner Suites at Aria.
The Mirage is located perfectly for a first time visitor to easily walk to other properties.
I also suggest booking through the hotel website so if the price drops they will adjust it.You can also cancel with no penalty.
Book it at the current price before it goes up.
