Seemed too good to me as well...

Apparently, as part of the new arrangement between Mlife and Royal Caribbean, card holders in one company can receive perks from the other based on their tier level.

I called Club Royale (Royal Caribbean's casino department) at 888-561-2234 to get the details... plan to hold for 5-10+ minutes, as they can be busy at times.

I was told that being Platinum with Mlife would earn me a FREE 3, 4, or 5 night cruise in an ocean view cabin (no balcony)... at least for Platinum card holders, no idea what other level of cards may be eligible for. It's limited to 4 ships: Enchantment, Liberty, Jewel, and Brilliance. You must book prior to 9/30/12 and sail before the end of this year. It excludes holiday sailings. You are responsible for taxes and gratuities.

There are some other perks as well including having the cash advance fee (3%) waived when purchasing chips in the casino on your ship card, 10 drink vouchers (woo hoo, lol), and a complimentary specialty restaurant meal for two. Apparently there are other minor perks, not fully sure what those are yet.

... OH - she did say before I got off the phone that this is an ANNUAL benefit. Quite generous if that's the case, and if the arrangement between Mlife and Royal continues!!

    Anyone else heard of this??

    GOOD LUCK!

    I think you mean 2013 not 2012.

My wife was looking at cruises just yesterday. Is the companion free as well if she's not platinum?

CET had some deal like this last year that would have been nice but the dates didn't work for us.

Yep... 2013 (still making that error from time to time)!

It's a free cruise for two - booked by the Platinum card holder.

That sounds like a very nice perk. I am just curious what the actual cost is, as I am sure there must be taxes and other fees involved. Did you book?

Here is a clip from that Oct press release:
...Beginning in January 2013, members of both programs will receive exciting offers and benefits. All M life members will receive offers...

I have not seen anything definitive yet either. I would guess you still pay ports fees, taxes and gratuities. We have done "free" cruise with NCL and Celebrity based on casino play. One of the common perks is free drinks while playing - though it looks like this deal might be limited. MIGHT be.

And, if they will waive the 3% fee for getting cash, it helps. Helps them more than us, but it helps.

Here is some postings on CruiseCritic - which is a great source for cruising. (ain't google great for finding stuff?)

When I stopped by the mlife desk on my last trip (I am platinum) they told me about the annual free cruise and gave me the phone number to call. I was unaware of the benefit and did not ask about it but plan to use it. However, I have not played much on cruises and would not play nearly as much as I would in an actual casino - hopefully they will not be tracking my play.

    Just booked the freebie cruise...

Paid extra to upgrade to a balcony. Instead of paying $1622 (everything including gratuities) I was charged $564.

If you opt for the freebie (smaller cabin and no balcony) and not an upgrade, you'd probably get it for under $200.

    WOO HOO!!

That is great news!!! I guess it is not bs, lol....

Quick question as I tried calling the 1-800 you posted and I was on hold for 15 minutes before I hung up.

What did you book? I'm looking at the sailings on the Liberty ;o)

And, did you book with a host or RCCL directly.

    Thanks for the good news!

    Cheers

LOL - yes, when I called back to book it took close to 15 minutes. At least it was toll free! ;)

That number takes you to the Club Royale people (Royal employees). When I look at my booking online it shows as TRAVEL AGENCY: CASINO PARTNERSHIP

Some of those Liberty sailings are even cheaper than the Jewel cruise I snapped up (date was ideal).

What really makes it more of a value for me is that it's an easy drive to the port !!

That is great! I'll see what my options are, but of course, I would like to book for Xmas 2013 but I assume that Holidays will be blocked off.

I'm glad that we are finally getting some recognition and extra perks from Mlife.

    Enjoy your cruise!!!

how does RC confirm that you're mLife Platinum ? And is it that I could book any available ocean view room on those ships, regardless of rack rate ?

It does put a slightly larger carrot at the end of that stick.

Having it as an annual benefit will likely encourage some to maintain a particular Mlife level. Just make sure (or try!) that you don't end up losing more in that effort than the perk is worth!

I did ask when I was booking what NOIR players received: They get a 7 night cruise in a balcony cabin (which probably opens up a lot more possible ships).

They do ask for your name and birth date when you make the call. They then refer to a list that MGM sends them. Fortunately, I was on it! ;)

This is in-line with what Seven Stars players receive on NCL. I don't think there's much debate that Royal Caribbean is much nicer than Norwegian. It's definitely a nice perk. I have my Seven Stars cruise coming up next month, I'm looking forward to using the Noir perk next year.

The person I spoke to just asked me for my name not my birthday or card number since I wasn't ready to commit to a date for the cruise and didn't say anything about a list, but I suppose she was assuming that I had received some sort of mailing in the mail about this? I'm NOIR with M-life but grandfathered in from last year, not a invite this year, so does that mean that some NOIR's aren't on whatever list MGM sent them?

BTW, I was told the 7 night cruise was good for any ship but only if it was a Caribbean cruise.

I have no idea, but got the impression that the pause after I gave her my name was the time it took for her to locate me on the list. The birth date was used, I assume, as a confirmation that she had the right person.

I wish I could take advantage of the perk, as I'm NOIR. However, I cannot afford to miss 5 days of work in a row (for a 7-day cruise), as I don't get paid vacation. Oh well.
