I love playing craps. To me there is nothing that beats the energy at a craps table when the dice get hot. Please share some of your best craps stories!

The best story I have lately is buying in at a $10 table with $200. I was treading water for awhile and was about even when the dice came around to me for the second time. I set the point at 9 and by this time had had quite a bit to drink so I loaded up all the place bets (I normally just place the 6/8). I proceeded to go on a bit of a tear. I hit about 4 points with full odds and was pressing all my place bets like crazy. I was parlaying the hardways and I think my best hit was a hard 8 when I had $20 on it and the table was going crazy. When I finally crapped out the table went completely silent until the box man looked at everyone like they were crazy and said "do you guys realize how much cash this guy just made you?" and then the table got pretty rowdy with applause. I colored up with $1300, up $1100 from my buy in. Pretty awesome for my level of play!

    Lets hear your stories!

I rarely gamble at Mandalay now, but these stories all seemed to happen there.

My favorite craps story is a little bit less than 10 years ago now. I was playing at Mandalay, the table was ok. My ears catch some commotion, and up steps one of the loudest of the loud and proud New Yohkas with his two buddies. He flops down 2 white envelopes, each one with 10k. From there, the mood at the table just changed and all of a sudden everybody was making at least 1 or 2. This happens a few times, then we get a real shooter. This guy goes for 20-30 minutes. I quadrupled my buy-in when the guy finally 7'd out but Mr. NY action to my right pays off his friends 45k, cashes out 280k and said "boys, strip club p----y on me!" and off he went. Loved that experience, but most of all I followed the particular way in which he was aggressive with pushing his bets up and I've got to say I've done pretty well for myself over the years. My best round was turning $500 into 15k on a couple of occasions.

Another time, De La Hoya fight weekend so the weekend girls were in town. This hot blond was working her mark pretty well at the table. but for some reason she looked REAL familiar. I kept kinda looking at her trying to jog my memory. To the point where she said "can I help you" and then :faint:, to which it hit me, then I replied "ya, you went to __________ High School." Her face went a bright red, then I looked at the roll, and like Kaiser Sosai she was gone. (I live in SoCal, but not the biggest town, so I bet she was mortified that word would get around.)

Next one, hot table on a Saturday night, rambunctious crowd, when by the craps table Flava Flav walks through the craps section. Drunk and rowdy a couple of us stupidly start yelling, Flaaaavvvvaa Flaaaaavvveee. Then more and more, until a whole part of the casino was saying Flava Flave in unison.

The fourth story is happening next weekend when all the VMB'ers who roll dice do so for Nate and have him take Cosmo for 3.5Mil.

I had a similar experience at Ballys, though the stakes were much lower. I bought in around 100 at a 5 dollar table, and the guy throwing the dice must have made 10 points in a row! At first I started conservative, but by the time he sevened out, I had all the numbers played, not to mention some of the hardways hitting a few times. When the dice got around to me, I had a nice run as well. I think I colored in for about 400. This was the first night of a trip, and it was a great way to start! Sadly, the luck wasn't as good the rest of the trip but I was still ahead thanks to that one session.

I had one win so big it could not flush.

Oh, I think I missed the context of the post.

First story was ten years ago at the Cal, held the dice for fifty minutes, just ten minutes short of the Golden Arm, later on that same night at MSS held the dice for forty minutes. Won about 5G's that day, still the best trip so far.

Next story at MSS, went to the table then had the shooter hit a hard six, parlayed that to i think $45 or $50, hit it again, took the winnings then pressed it to $75 and the shooter hit it again, made about $1500 in twenty minutes

think how epic that would be if you had parleyed the whole sum on hard 6 and hit it 3 times in a row

My all time best craps story was when I was the hot shooter at the Flamingo several years ago.

It was a ten dollar table and I bought in for four hundred. Lost half that stake by the time the dice got to me. It was a Sunday afternoon, so the table was not full. But then I went on the monster streak of a lifetime, which I doubt I will ever repeat. Sadly, I was pretty new to craps and all I was betting was the pass line with full odds and eventually a few place bets. Even at that, I made my $200 back and over $800 in profit. All in all, I held the dice for an hour and fifteen minutes, hit more than ten points, hit a six point fire bet (didn't know what that was at the time, arghhhhhhhh!), hit a ton of come bets for other players. It reached the point where the table was full and there was a line of people standing behind us asking the folks at the table to place bets for them. Crazy. Funniest part: it was mid-July and at one point, I and the guy standing next to me felt the casino turn the heater on in the ceiling above the table. We both laughed that they were trying to get rid of me! Sure it was just a malfunction, but it made for a funny tidbit to the story. In the end, at least four people that I saw colored up for over $10k each when I was finished.

My best craps story is not about my best craps run. It was a good run, for sure, but I've been involved in better. The best run I ever had was at a charity function when I turned 200 into 8000 in an hour. But the best story, of course, happened in Vegas.

I was a shooter at a table at MGM. It was about half full. There were several hispanic gentlemen at the table. As I hit my second point, these guys are calling over all their friends, because I'm throwing a lot of hard ways and numbers. And now the table is full of guys in their 20s, and I think I may be the only person who speaks english. I keep the run going. I'm not betting particularly big -- this was awhile back -- but I'm pressing my passlines...10,10, 20, 30, 40, 50...I hit the sixth point, and everyone is cheering me on in Spanish.

Let me describe the crowd at the table a little clearer. When I say gentlemen, I mean tatted up guys, a lot of tank tops, colors...I think somewhere in my 30+ minutes with the dice I may have been inducted as a member of the Latin Kings. It was a lot of fun, and I walked away up about a grand.

Last year at Planet Hollywood was quite possibly the greatest night of my life and my buddies. Walked up to a newly opened 10$ table and with 5 other buddies plus 4 other people it quickly became a full table.

It was around 7p when we started and had been drinking all day so of course bought in for like 500$. Needless to say, I remember very little as our first point was a 4 and I told the shooter I'd shotgun a 4Loko from the local liquor store in the ABC malls if he hit it. Of course 2 rolls later, it hits. I shotgun and if you know what a 4Loko is, I might as well have been dead. Essentially at the end of the night, we had cleared each side of chips all the way back to the 1k's. I have never seen dust on a craps table, but the chips used to pay out had been sitting there so long.

At one point though Bill Walton was at our table. Had the pit boss who had 6 craps tables open, just watching us. We were extremely loud about every number and roll. Some clown kept screaming PAGING Dr. Hummel who was a Purdue basketball star at the time.

Woke up the next morning with the Pitbosses card in my pocket that said see me in the morning, I'll have some good comps for you.

Ended up with a huge night out the next night with limo service and dinner.

Ended up like 8k after a 100$ hard 8 throughout the night.

Extracted this from my trip report.....

Each trip I try to play Craps at NYNY in the morning as I prefer an empty table as I want to get to shoot the dice. The dice come to me and I hit a point or two then 7 out. The next guy passes, the next 2 guys shoot and I slow play. The dice come back to me and according to my wife I held the dice about 55 minute and went on a monster roll. A 7 did not appear the entire time. The NYNY tables don't have a Fire bet which wouldn't have mattered as all my numbers were either 4, 6 or 8.

NYNY does have a different side bet called All High (numbers 8-12) that pays 35-1, All Lows (numbers 2-6) that pays 35-1 and "All Highs and All Lows" (both high and low) that pays 175-1. Now I didn't bet this but the 3 guys on the end had $10 on each.
Although I didn't have this side bet down, the table was rocking as I got close to completing the numbers with the amount these guys were to win. Oh, the hardways were hot too. A few times I knocked the stack of chips down of the guy on the end and each time it was either a hard six or hard eight to appear. I completed the All Highs first and the 3 guys were happy. Then it got down to only needing a 5 for them to complete the All Lows which would also include the other bet for 175 to 1 . When I hit the 5 you
could of heard these guys at the other end of the strip. At the end of my roll these 3 guys were up at least 3K. I don't recall a more exciting or loud table with only a few guys. I was more than happy to color up with a $500 win. This does not include the tip I left in the end along with the numerous bets I made for the table. I probably won $600 in total. I did not attempt to play Craps again this trip as I wanted this memory to last until our next trip. I don't expect to experience another session like this for a while.

Last March, I asked the crew while playing what their favorite craps story was. One dealer said that at Ballagio (don't know when), lady put $5 on box cars (30 for 1). It hit, and dealers jokingly said "let it ride!!". She did. It hit again. $4500!! She was smart enough to pull back $2,500 because seriously... what are the 'odds'?? It hit a 3rd time!!! $60,000.

She had a mild heart attack right there on the spot and had to be rushed to hospital. I believe she lived. Hopefully she didn't have to use the money on medical bills.

Back when Foxwoods still had the Fire bet, bought in for $500, proceeded to hit two 5 out of 6 fire bets in under 2 hours, $5 each, and each roll was a monster. That was the only time I've ever seen the dealers not rotate for breaks - during both of the rolls they didnt move, and each roll was over 30 minutes. Walked away with just over $6,000.

    I have a couple:

-The time we first learned to play we were at TI. We got on a beginners luck streak and played almost non-stop for 2 of the 3 days we were there. One afternoon there was this guy there with his buddies...apparently a High Roller betting hundreds at once. He was doing really well and having a great time. About 6pm he
announced to the table that he had to leave because he was getting married in 30 minutes and his fiance was p-oed!!

-Once we were playing at Caesars...I was the shooter but I wasn't betting..my husband was. Come out roll after come out roll...7....7....7....7...everyone at the table was really happy with me. Except for the pit boss who made the comment that if my lucky streak didn't end soon they were gonna put my picture up as banned from Vegas craps tables...joking of course (I hope)! We've never had a streak like that since then. Some guy bought in for around $200 and walked away with close to $3k within a short time thanks to my lucky rolls.

One of the first times I played, it was at NY NY. I was shooting and a young Asian guy threw 3k down on the field and I hit a 4, he threw me a $100 chip. Next roll same, I hit a 10, another $100 chip. Next roll same, I hit a 6 needless to say no $100 chip. He waited a few turns and he did it again I hit another 10, another $100 chip. He stopped, I Seven-ed out.

God I love craps stories. Most fun you can have with your clothes on!

My personal best was back in June when I was at HP Discover. I went to the Bellagio and bought in for $500. Played for about a half hour just treading water. I got back up to my buy in and cashed out, figuring my roll was not there. I'm walking back and as I approach The Mirage, I texted a friend to tell her what happened and ask if I should take another shot, given the higher minimums. Basically she said don't text me with this timid bulls**t and get in there! I did, and turned my original buy in into $3K, the highlight being a hard 8 for the point when I was on it for $200.

Im in Vegas about 15 years ago for the weekend. I have $800 to make it through the weekend and no way to get additional funds(short of getting a westen union transfer)

I get off the plane and go downtown and pass by a craps table at Binions. Im playing pretty small $5-10 a bet on the dark side. Im also drinking Jack and cokes pretty fast and furious and the waitress was making rounds pretty efficiently.

Within the first hour and a half Im slowly upping my losing bets, along with multiple dont comes trying to get even, just frustrated at how many numbers are being hit. And all of the sudden Im down about $420.

Common sense says to quit and slow down because you just got here and have to make this money last for at least 36 more hours, degenerate sense says "this is crap, what am I going to do with ONLY $400."

Degenerate sense wins out and I lay the whole wad on dont pass, the point is 4, things are looking good, the guy keeps rolling hitting lots of numbers except 4 or 7 until finally after about a dozen rolls he 7 outs, line away, degen to pay.

I collected and quit, it was the happiest I could remember to break even on a session. Ive gambled for alot more money over the years but dont ever remember feeling that "desperate need" to win like I did on that occasion, nor the euphoria that came with that particular win.

No 'great' stories like some of y'alls, but a few minor ones:

Back in the 80s, I was on a gambling boat out of Galveston (Mississipi Star).
As soon as we go into international waters, the casino opens. I tell my buddies about 5 minutes beforehand that my first bet is going to be a $25 hard-8 & that I'll press it to $100 if it hits.
It does, and then the very next roll, it comes up again. I run from the table with my winnings. My friends are incredulous.

In the 90s, playing at Stardust (~sigh~...I miss the ol' girl)... going back & forth, not really going up or down... I put $5 on the hard-8 & it hits. They pay me $45, leaving the bet out there. I tell them to take it down.
    You guessed it...next roll - hard-8.
Stickman stops the game at a packed table, taps his stick in front of me and loudly declares - "Man saved himself five dollars".

    Even I laughed.

This is the first good craps story I can remember (or that I can’t really remember).

I was introduced to craps maybe about 6 years ago. I used to love to play black jack (still do!) but over dinner one night with a bunch of my girlfriend’s friends, one of the guys there started telling me about craps and how this “odds” bet was the best bet you could make in a casino. He tried to explain the game to me with little success but the seed was planted. The next time I was at the local casino I decided to give craps a try. At this time I was probably 25 and was just starting a real job so my buy in was probably something like $50 at a $5 table. I still had no idea what I was doing but I managed to make about $150 on my $50 buy in within about 20 or 30 minutes. At that point I decided that craps was the best game ever.

Cut to my first trip to vegas with two of my university buddies, lets call them E and D. E and I play pretty loose and had slightly higher bankrolls (by higher bankrolls, I mean we could afford to play $10 blackjack rather than $5, we are obviously not high rollers). D is a scared gambler. Always bets the minimum and is always afraid he is going to lose his money. He is probably the smartest guy I know and I think the fact that he knows that gambling is a losing proposition bothers him. As you could expect, D was just getting hammered on the entire trip, it didn’t matter what he played or how much he bet, as soon as he put his money on the table, the casino took it away from him. I think when we showed up in Vegas we were comparing how much cash we all brought, E and I brought about $1200 and D brought $200. We laughed at him and then when he lost the entire $200 in about an hour we laughed even more. E and I were a bit more successful, but not much. I had been talking about craps the entire trip, but our only real experience playing it was at Wynn where I made about $200 playing blackjack, thought this was great, I’ll now turn that into even more playing craps. I think table minimum was $10 or $15 at Wynn and I quickly lost the entire $200 + some. Craps was not getting a good reputation with my buddies. So the last night we are all down to our last dollar and decide to hit Freemont street as we hear it is a bit cheaper. I think we started at the Golden Nugget and D was loving the $5 blackjack. I think he maybe even made $100. We wandered around and after a couple of cups shaped like footballs full of Grey Goose and Soda, we were feeling no pain and our motor skills were beginning to suffer. We wandered into the Golden Gate and all got separated, I hit the craps table, E got pulled into a blackjack table by a lovely dealer and D went off to call his girlfriend (seriously). I was surprised that D was so worried about losing money gambling, because whatever he lost gambling wouldn’t have compared to his phone bill. He was on the phone with his girlfriend all the time. I’m not sure if she was worried about what happens in Vegas or what, but it seemed like he was calling her every hour, and they wouldn’t just talk for like 2 minutes, they would talk for like an hour at a time. So after treading water at a craps table for probably an hour and being served delicious drinks the entire time, some young guy walks up to the craps table and hits 2 points straight away. I call E and tell him to get over to craps because its about to turn, and try and call D but as you would guess he is out talking to his girlfriend. After about 10 minutes this guy is still rolling and E shows up. I’m not sure what time it was, but its late, the only people at the table are E and I at one end, and this other guy rolling the dice at the other end. I also remember this craps table being the biggest table ever, seemed like the guy throwing the dice was miles away. I think when E shows up I’m already up like $100 or $200 on pretty small bets. Anyway, this guy continues to go on an epic run hitting points all over the place. Remember at this point I’m still fairly new to craps so I’m still not sure what I’m doing and I haven’t figured out how to press my bets, but we have the pass line figured out and are heavy on come bets now too. I’m not sure how long he rolled for but when he finally 7'ed out, I was up $700 and E was up about $500. The guy who was rolling – he was just betting pass line the entire time with no odds, I think he might have been up $50. E and I are going crazy with our big win, D walks in and says “What did I miss?”. To make him feel better we went hunting for Rhinos. I woke up the next morning and still had a couple hundred dollars in my wallet. Winner!!

I needed some “me” time so I headed to AC. Got to the Borgatta about 11:30 and bought in at a table for $200, and drained it within 20 minutes. Not a good start

I headed up to the spa and spent a very relaxing few hours. Whirlpool, Steam room, chilling out, then a 100 mintes massage. Went back down to the tables about 4 and drained another $300. So now I am down $500 and its not even dinner yet. Nothing was working. Had a decent (comped) dinner at the buffet and decided to head to the Boardwalk.

As I was walking to my car, I realized I had 5 $1 chips in my pocket. I headed back into the casino to cash them in. As I was heading to the cage, I heard my name being paged over the PA systm. How weird is that? They paged me three more times before I could find a house phone. I called and security told me thye had found the leather case with my players club cards that I had left at the table in the buffet. So I took this as an omen…..I was almost at my car, I had returned to cash in some chips and now I am paged to secuity. Of course, I had to head back to the table.

So of course, I bought in for $200. I knew it would be a big score. And after 30 minutes, I look down and sure enough….

I had $205 dollars in my rack. No big score. I cashed out exactly what I had when I started. So much for Kharma.

The hell with it. I head over to the Showboat. I usually am not a fan of the place, but I had some luck there over the summer. I bought in at a $5 table and it was cold. there were only three other players and one guy in particular was obnoxious as hell. Every time a player sevened out - which was about every third roll - he would complain that the house was swittching the dice to loaded dice. According to the crew, the table had been cold for the previous hour. The dice went twice around the table and the chips were draining. Finaly, the obnoxious guy walked away ...

...and almost immediately the table started to turn…

It started with my own turn at the dice. I was playing straight out right and I used my “rock and roll” throw….no setting, just picking up the dice and, in one motion, letting them head down the table. I made three points and a bunch of other numbers and the tables started attracting some players.

What I love about craps is how such a diverse group of people can share in a common experience. On my right was a little troll of a guy who would only bet on the five. On my left were two guys in business suits. Next to them was an older black gentleman who looked like he had been playing for 70 years Stick left was a couple…. he would only shoot backhanded with his back to the direction he was shooting ad would never look at the dice when they rolled.. His girl/wife would shoot like she never played craps before and alternating barely getting it over mid court and other times hitting me in the chest. Straight across form me was a hispanic guy with a pepsi-cola distributor jacket.

But we all made money. And everyone shot well. The two suits each made at least two points and a few numbers, Mr. backhand had the longest run. At one point he made three straight hard tens- and then another one after he rolled a six. three hard tens out of four rollls. I was doing my usual progression and had the ten bought up to $125 and had $17 on the hard ten the fourth time it hit. He proably rolled for 30 minutes. When he finally sevened out, I had about $250 on the felt.

The odd thing was, the hot streak continued after his huge roll. He wife made numerous points. Senor Pepsi got my 4 up to $100 and made me a nice profit.

And the whole time, the little guy next to me was thrilled every time his $5 bet on the five hit and he would give me a fist pump. It was his only bet - no other numbers and no pressing. He probably made about $80 on the night.

After 2 hours the dice finally came back to me I had started the hot run and I also ended it - a quick seven out. I finally cashed in over $1200. I had won back everything I lost at the Borgata and my early losses at the Showboat and even covered my massage.

I thought back to the return to the Borgata when I discovered the chips in my pocket. I thought it was Kharma that I would win big when I was forced to return to the casino floor. I was bummed when it did not turn out that way. But I realized that - even though I did not make anything at the Borgata, that return trip from the garage caused me to get to the Showboat 45 minutes later. Had I arrived sooner at the beginning of the cold streak, I would have drained my buy in almost immediately and headed up home down about $800 for the day. Instead, I missed most of the cold streak and arrived at the table just in time to turn the table around and ride the hot streak.

    So patience, grasshopper!

    Gotta love craps
