Do any poker rooms play Stud or draw poker? Most seem to be focused on Hold'em. I usually hang out downtown.
None that I'm aware of that don't have those games outside of a mixed game. Orleans I believe has a 7 card stud that runs regularly, some other rooms used to but haven't for awhile.
I prefer 7 card stud but haven't played in Vegas for years as it is so tough to find a game. It pretty much is hold em everywhere. I hope in time stud will gain popularity again.
My last trip 2 weeks ago I could not find any 7-card stud game along the strip. I know in AC you will find several games going on in The Trop and possibly other casinos. I wish there was more options for the poker player in Vegas other than Texas Hold'em. p
The last time I was there, all I saw was Hold'em. Some Omaha, but mostly Texas. I've seen some in AC too, but it's sparse. The Sands in AC used to spread a bunch of 7 Stud games, but they blew that place up... Santé, TL
Sams town on boulder hwy has a 1-5 stud games that runs mornings only 7 days a week. Theres a free shuttle that runs from bills on the corner of lv blvd and flamingo on the strip to sams town hourly. the game usually starts about 7 or 8am and runs till noon or a little later. hard to believe in vegas you can't find a couple hundred people who want to play stud. there's plenty of games going all over LA. You'll have an easier time riding a donkey to the moon than finding a draw game.
I truly miss the "old days", back in the 80s... back when Bally's was still MGM and the Marina was where MGM ended up...they both had great poker rooms... 7-stud was THE game, and you could still smoke at the tables. Oh well... times change.
I thought most places don't play a stud game because they don't have the tables for it and the hold 'em tables are just too small? I haven't seen a real stud table in a poker room in forever.
I don't think it has anything to do with table size. Stud games are comfy to play on because it's 8-max vs. 9 or 10-max for holdem/omaha. But I have no idea what the difference of a "stud table" is from today's standard poker table.
The old stud tables were slightly larger from what I recall. I'm sure they play on hold 'em tables these days, but it seems to me it would get rather crowded.
