green chip level, playing $25 per hand, possibly playing $50 per hand, would play around an hour at a time, would that get me anything? (free food?)
If it's only an hour a day, you won't get much. At most strip properties, you put in 4-5 hours a day (doesn't have to be all in a row) and you will start seeing some comps come you way. It also depends on where you are staying. That kind of action downtown is more favorable than on the Strip too.
Shock, is correct. There are more variable in play than just the size of the bet. At the very least, at CET and MGM properties you will accumulate points that can be used to purchase food at their properties
If the pit boss does not rate you each time, you will get nothing. Always an issue with a short play.
Yes, this is always a problem. It usually takes on average 10-20 minutes for the pit boss to even take my card and start the rating (unless it is dead and they are standing right there). I have now since bought in, they yell at the pit boss 500-1000 in. Give me chips, and my card sits there. When the dealer asks for my bet, I then say, I will put a bet out when the pit boss comes over to get my card. That usually gets the dealer to actually call the pit boss over. I just got sick of to many times getting ripped for 20 minutes of play.
My friend plays $25 per hand in baccarat. At our last stay, he probably played 10-15 shoes (hours) at that level and received about $15 in express comps. He receives mail offers for discounted rooms, that's about it. Not too many comps though. If you are playing BJ, your comps may be lower due to the lower house advantage. If you want more comps, I would recommend playing downtown or a lower end Mlife property (Luxor, Excaliber, Monte Carlo, NYNY). At higher end properties (Aria, Bellagio), you will essentially nothing, but EC. Good luck.
IF there is a long wait for the pit boss to clock me in, I tell them I've been here for xx minutes or have played xx number of hands. They have the ability to adjust the time.
A good rule of thumb to remember about Blackjack is the casino estimates they will win one bet an hour from you on average. So a $25 a hand player is expected to lose about $25 an hour. Estimate your comps to be 25% of that. With your $25 play you can expect about $6 an hour in comps. This is just a general rule, but is reasonably accurate.
You earn about 1/25 of your average bet in EC. So betting $25 per hand, expect to earn about $1 per hour in EC.
I've managed to get some decent comps at some of the lower rung places playing green. The host at Aria told me that about 170 average bet spread for four hours per day will get RFB. Greens at a higher end place may get you some food taken off the bill at the end. Just charge everything to your room and hope for the best. I mean, you were gonna get those shots anyway, right? Santé, TL
This does not always work. If the dealer is not the same as you started with, the pit boss will ask the dealer how long you have been there, and they will say I just got here or I got here 5 minutes ago, and they will go by that. They will not take you at your word, I about guarantee that. They might say they will, but odds are they will not. The way I said assures it. Also as far as getting comped for level you play at. That is mine almost to a tee. I play 4-5 hours each day at black jack. 1-2 at pai gow. And poker. I am a 25-50, and will go up to 100 when doing well. I get 2 free nights some weekdays at mirage. But not all the time. I will get discounted rates of 29 almost all weekdays, 39-59 on all weekends. With some free buffets in there or 2-1. I do all my play at mirage and aria. I go back and forth though on each trip though from cet and mlife properties. Usually going with the best offer for that time. Dont expect much, but you might see discounted offers that are available on busy weeks that are worth taking. And if you play at excaliber, luxor monte carlo, NYNY, you might get a couple free nights on weekdays and pretty cheap weekends. That is just my experience.
It is probably not going to get you much on the current trip. But if you play that way at CET hotels there is a decent chance you will see at least weekday comps in your rate calendar for a future trip.
I am a green chip blackjack player at The Flamingo. I am now living out of country in Germany and visit a CET property once a year. I spent 3 days of a 7 day state side trip in Vegas last summer at The Flamingo. I had 10 hours of blackjack at $45 per hand over 3 days. I also had some craps time at a $10 table and some shoot to win craps that probably hurt my rating. After comping my room using rc's and using rc's for food and drink charged to my room I still had 900 rc's left over. With that I got Sunday-Thursday comped and Fri-Sat at $22 a night for a Fab Deluxe room for this July. No F&B. This year I am going with a $8500 budget for the trip. Most of my gaming will be at CET propeties but I will be giving some to MLFIFE for the first time since 2005. The wife wants to stay at some MGM propeties when we move back to the states in 2014. I plan on using the $20 dollar sandwich when I check in. Being that I will be in Vegas a week I may up it to a $50 and see if I can get a Go room like I did last year. Showing my military dependent ID like I did last year will probably help also.
Really?? I'm just stunned because I bet larger than that and never get RFB at Aria. Maybe RFL, but never RFB. My host at Aria sucks (yet again)
