I was playing Baccarat at the Wynn a few days ago at a table outside of the high limit room. It was during the afternoon and wasn't very busy. My table had a few players and a few BJ tables were open with people playing to the left of us. To the right there was an empty Baccarat table. A younger Asian couple sat down at the table and started playing.

5 or 10 minutes later we all hear "HOW WOULD YOU GUYS LIKE A COMPLIMENTARY PASS FOR TWO TO THE BUFFET? WOULD YOU LIKE THAT? LET ME TAKE CARE OF THAT FOR YOU. This pit boss then proceeds to stop at the computer station behind our table talking loudly about how those two are getting a complimentary buffet. Goes over to the BJ section and asks another boss about printing a comp for 2 for those people at the end.

Was this some misguided attempt by a new pitboss to use some tactic he learned about making a player feel special? Is the Wynn that stingy with comps where this was a big deal?

I felt bad because he made such a spectacle out of it that they had everyone's attention. They were playing between $300-$600 at the time. I know people like getting things for free but seriously are these people really going to be impressed with 2 lunch buffets? They could just take one chip off their betting stack and cover themselves with change to spare.

I don't know, I've never been upset at someone offering me something for free. And the Wynn buffet is nice.

I had something similar happen to me at a local casino. I was playing craps, probably averaging $60 bets, give or take. Had maybe $1000 in front of me and was having a good day. I mentioned that I needed to take a break and get some lunch and the pit boss said 'here, let me buy that for you.' It was a $20 voucher, which is nothing, but I thought it was a nice gesture.

Both myself and my girlfriend are low roller slots players. First time at the Wynn both of us were approached while at machines by these real men in black agent looking types, talked to by name (obviously based on player card tracking) and told that they would like to put some freeplay on our cards. One of the two times others were nearby and saw it. Certainly didn't make us feel embarrassed or anything. It was incredibly unexpected and actually quite nice.

Course, my girlfriend turned points in for free buffets and we ask if they could do a line pass as well. They agree. When I turn in my points the next day, the players club desk tells me they don't have the ability to give out line passes... Guess she was playing harder than me. Wish they'd have just told me I hadn't played enough, rather than lying. lol

At the wynn all you have to do is ask and the pit boss will give you free buffets. I do this every time. Have never had a problem. Bet atleast $25 and wait atleast 10 mins. I've gotten it playing both blackjack and craps. Also make sure you tip the dealers!
