Is Laughlin really that bad of a place to go ?? We have been to Vegas many many time and we stay on Fremont St for the last 4 years. We are thinking of taking one day and going to Laughlin with Key Tours has anyone used them? We just want to check it out one time have heard it is really in slow motion compared to Vegas. Any info about Laughlin would be great and are we nut for going there?

I don't know what you mean by "bad place to go," but I am 27 years old and I visit from SoCal about every other month. It is very slow-paced when compared to Vegas, both because the majority of people there are much older and because the town just doesn't have as many people visiting it as it did before the economy collapsed.

In my opinion there is not a whole lot to do there besides gamble and drink, which works just fine for me. You will find ok blackjack there, in that there is very little 6:5. Minimums rarely go above $5 in most of the casinos. There is still some full-pay VP there, although a lot less than there was a couple of years ago.

It is fun to walk along the river and visit each casino, or take the river taxis up and down the "strip."

Laughlin isn't for everyone, but you should check it out if you are looking for something new.

We went a few years ago. When we did it,it was free & the bus stopped @ Hoover Dam. Witch we had not seen before. The bus took us to Edgewater & they gave us a free buffet. We took a water taxi to Harrahs, that was pretty cool. Everywhere we went was pretty much empty. I was looking for the same deal last night but couldn't find it. I would do it again if it was free & the bus stopped @ the dam. We went in July & I wouldn't do it in the summer again. It was warm on the way down, but it must have been over a 110 for the ride back (r bus was black & sat in the sun allday).

We live in MN & I thought it was kinda neat seeing the countyside outside of Vegas.
    Overall, it was fun.

I really enjoy Laughlin. I visit at least a few times a year, and Vegas is home. I usually stay at the Belle or Edgewater. There's a commercial that says "It's like you own the place" and it is. It's slower, less crowded, but there is something to be said for staff that is genuinely happy to see you. No waits, crowds, etc. I've been going for nearly a decade. I'm still in my early 30's so it's not like I'm their target market, but it appeals to me.

So everyone is going to say that you're crazy, and that it isn't worth giving up valuable Vegas time to go there. Are they right?? Maybe.

Personally I am a big Laughlin fan, and have split my trip between the two places many times. While there I love to play golf, hike out to the petroglyphs, pretend like I am a good photographer, and spend time in the casinos. It is slow motion compared to Vegas, and the clientele that frequent the place is definately older, but that isn't always a bad thing. Good food is much harded to find in Laughlin than Vegas, and you will most likely be given a free but lousy buffet from whatever hotel is subsidising the bus trip (Colorado Belle?). I would say go for it if it were an overnighter, but personally I don't know if it's worth it to just to spend a few hours there in a casino. It is cool though to sit in the casino where there are windows overlooking the river. You have to remember it's 1.5 hours each way, and transportation once you get to town is limited.

If you decide to go, my favorite casino in town is The Aquarius, but also enjoy Tropicana Express, the Golden Nugget, and Harrah's. Take the water taxi from one end of the Laughlin Strip to the other, bring your camara, wear comfy shoes because even though they aren't vegas-style-mega-resorts, it is a hike from place to place. Take the River walk behind the Pioneer. If you make the trip and decide you like the town and want to return put some action of your Total Rewards card and you will get offers for minimal play.

Whatever you decide, have fun!! Any questions feel free to contact me.

I prefer to drive a rental car when we go

Rather than bus it.,Driving thru Searchlight is a step back in time ,We actually stopped at a local casino there one day, whoa.
If we ever decide to stay over there again one day,I'd like to take the Jet Boat ride down to Lake Havasu, drove there once ,nice place to spend a few hours.

We go there a lot. Laughlin doesn't have the entertainment that Vegas has. They do have some concerts - Reba is coming soon but no big production shows.
It is an older crowd esp in winter but in the summer lots of younger people are there for the jet skiing on the river.
We like that you can walk from place to place and you can eat cheaper than Vegas. If you like crowds and more excitement, then you're better off in Vegas.
We like to stay at Aquarius or Golden Nugget; Tropicana isn't bad either. Haven't stayed at Edgewater or Colorado Belle for a long time but I understand Edgewater has updated their rooms so it may not be bad.

I like Laughlin a lot. I often stay there on my way to and/or from Vegas. I've even done a couple Laughlin only trips.
If you go to Vegas for the night clubs, high end shopping, high end food and high end hotels then Laughlin would be a disappointment. Pools are basic in Laughlin too.

If you are a gambler you will like Laughlin. The only 6/5 blackjack I have seen is at Harrahs. Aquarius had some full pay VP starting at the quarter level.
It's a lot more relaxed than Vegas. Food is about half what you would pay on the strip. There is also an In and Out Burger right on Casino Drive, easily walkable from most of the hotels.

Well thanks for all the info it isn't what I was thinking I would read. Thought everyone would say I was nuts for even thinking about going but seems like people really do like it there so we will be going to check it out.
