$4 Shuttle from Airport to Strip?

Someone told me about this. Is it true? Seems too good to be true. Details?

I would doubt it exists. The two biggest things I see for this are:

1) Most of the shuttle companies are owned by one company and they all work together to keep a standard pricing structure.

2) There is more than enough business to go around that there isn't any need for competitive pricing or seeking a market advantage - all that cutting your price in half means is that your shuttles *might* fill up first, but either way they are going to fill up.


What is likely is that whoever told you this either was mistaken (the shuttles only cost $7 each way, $6.50 if you buy a round trip ticket so its easy to shave off a couple of bucks) or they had some kind of discount or transfer as part of their flight package or arrangement between their airline and a shuttle company.

 

I agree with Augie.

However, they could be confusing "shuttle" with the WAX ( Westcliff Airport Express ). This is a city bus which leaves level 0 approximately once per hour.

The WAX costs $2 each way.

After it departs the airport, it makes a stop along the south side of NYNY, on Tropicana Street, then speeds on toward downtown.

The WAX which returns to the airport makes a stop on the north side of Hotel Tropicana, on Tropicana Street, picks up passengers & heads directly to the airport.

So, anyway, it is conceivable to to get to the strip and back for $4.

However, it would be a city bus, not a shuttle.

And, it would only be reasonable if you were staying at MGM, Trop, NYNY or Excalibur.

And, you would have to find the bus schedule & be prepared to wait.

On a brighter note, if you land at McCarran with a pair of $2 bills to your name -- then the above method is definitely the only way to go! Haha!

Personal anecdote: Last year, I landed at McCarran & took the WAX downtown for $1 (Sr. Citizen card discount). Before checking into the 4Q's, hit a VP progressive for $1170 with $80 of free play . .Used that as gambling money for the 5 day stay, and arrived home (via WAX to airport) with a profit. ASSUMING that you win big with your free slot play, and IF you have a senior citizen bus pass, you only need to bring a single dollar to Las Vegas! But.....don't count on it! Haha!

 

We paid $7 one way per person. I never saw a shuttle for $4 one way per person.

Haven't seen those prices in ages, even on a round trip.

 

Las vegas is a town where you get what you pay for.

.99 hot dogs, you get about a bucks worth of hot dog.

There are a couple excpetions where you can get $1 beers but of course you arent drinking them in the presidential suite, you are drinking them in casino royale.

A $4 shuttle would be about a $3 value.

Nothing to really get excited over and most likely not worth the money even at that price.

 

I think the $4.00 shuttle was in the mid 90's. I never had a problem with shuttles to the Strip or downtown and always took them round trip. I never had a long wait and never had to make a half dozen stops before my hotel. If there are several people in your party it may be more cost effective to take a cab (up to 5 people) or a limo.

Seems like some folks hate to wait (8-10 minutes my average) so wait in the taxi line then get tunnelled and get their blood pressure spiking. Like a lot of things in LV, it's all about perceived value.

Be prepared for a long wait, we gave up on shuttles because we have things to do and places to go!!!!
