I know they have removed the Imperial Palace sign from the IP (now the Quad) have they installed "The Quad" sign? All the advertisements online look like a computer generated logo on the building.

    Thanks!

I will NEVER understand why they didn't demolish the IP! The layout is ridiculous and the rooms are decrepit!

You don't understand why a company 20 billion in debt doesn't destroy money producing rooms?

You may absolutely hate it but the checkin desk seems to have a line from noon to 9pm. People do stay there. :)

No, I don't - they had a perfect opportunity to do a better renovation during this Project Linq. Just because a company is in debt doesn't mean they don't have money to spend. Also, there is no way they are "making" money off those rooms - they practically give them away. I have no problems gambling there, I always stop in when visiting Vegas. IMHO I think it would have been a good move to say goodbye and start fresh. :wink

They didn't have the "money to spend" for the projects they are already doing (Linq and Bill's). They had to raise that money.

So the question becomes who wants to give them 500 million to a billion more to redo IP from scratch in this economy and for a Vegas market flooded with rooms? And then how much operating revenue do they lose in the meantime?

Its pretty easy to see why they didn't go that way.

The rooms being decrepit is mainly about furnishings and fixtures. Those can be replaced without dynamiting the hotel, and also done in phases. Fixing elevators also doesn't require a completely new hotel.

It doesn't make sense to start from scratch unless you have a plan to steal the high end spenders from Wynn/Bellagio/CityCenter/Aria/Venetian/Palazzo. And then you are talking about a BIG spend (and maybe a hotel tough to build on IP's footprint). As well as a customer base that CET arguably are not good at catering to.

It is starting to become a really legit version of IP. I just stayed there for CES.

It was a total blast, high high energy.

IP/Quad is very lucrative for CET. The rooms do make them money, and the casino is always full. Last time I stayed there (October), it was during the week, and front desk said they are at 100% capacity for the next 3 days

I was there in early Nov. during the week Sun.-Thurs. and the place was packed. Long live the Imperial Palace, R.I.P. O'Shea's, long live the Quad, R.I.P. Barbary Coast, and long live Bill's Gambling Hall.

I love the quad. There are more than enough high end places on the strip. The rooms are fine and the casino is awesome. I will continue to be a customer.

When I look on Trip Advisor I see nothing but negative room reviews. I don't need anything fancy, I don't want to pay for anything fancy.

I have stayed at the Villa Roma (low end) and Flamingo Fab and Go rooms and basics room before renovated. The Fab room is the quality I am looking for...how does the Quad stack up?

Everyone wants a total redo but when the project was announced everyone complained that room rates would go up. You aren't going to get a completely remodeled hotel with dirt cheap rates. What they are doing will raise rates but still keep them reasonable.

Before the Flamingo re-did their room I payed $250 for Thur-Mon over May long weekend. Now those room (Fab) are $400 for the same dates this year. That might give an idea as to how the rates might increase....hope that helps.

Hey Donny - I've stayed in the Fab and Go rooms at Flamingo. The Quad can't stack up to those rooms. I would rate the Quad as Super 8 or Motel 6 quality. Its clean if not outdated. The tv is an old tube tv. The bedding is clean and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom is adequate. The rooms are nice sized and I believe most have a table and chairs. I do not spend much time in my room when in Vegas. I use the room as a place to lay my head at night, somewhere to clean up, and also to take an occasional nap when the day has gotten the best of me.

I never give too much credit to the reviews on tripadvisor. I think most folks on there are just looking for a place to gripe. When I read many of the reviews for The Quad, I think "DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING FOR A RIDICULOUSLY LOW PRICE".

I believe whole heartedly that you "get what you pay for" at the The Quad as far as rooms.

Agree. I think many "un-knowing" people expect all Vegas rooms to be nice and have a champagne expectation. Instead, the get a cheap beer and then let loose with reviews.

Meanwhile, they seem to stay full.

The old IP area was indeed a mess when we were there over the holidays.

Our second trip to Las Vegas was at the Stardust in the late 1970s. I was expecting this majestic suite with palatial appointments and what I got was close to a dorm room! If you would have added a black-light poster and a bookshelf made of planks and construction blocks, it would have passed for dorms at University Of {whatever}. It was clean and comfortable, however.
