Been planning my 50th birthday party for the last several years and, of course, it will be in Vegas. Looks like maybe a dozen or more folks are going to fly out to celebrate with me. I don't normally do things up in a big way, staying wherever I can get a free or cheap room but would like to find a place for a couple of nights that would be a nice suite with a great view and where I could hang out with my friends. Was looking at the Cosmo as the wraparound suites seem pretty awesome but might be nice to find a place where I could get a great room and my friends could still stay in the same place for a reasonable rate. By no means am I limiting this to the Strip but thought this would be the place to post. Look forward to any suggestions.

I haven't stayed in a suite before, so I can't give any first hand info. You may want to try flamingo or Planet Hollywood, both have good locations and good vibes for a party atmosphere. Planet Hollywood would have a younger crowd, I'm 36 and I enjoy it. I don't notice much ******baggery going on there when I am there, but I am normally lit up while I'm there.

If you do Cosmo, they could stay at ballys/Paris/planet Hollywood or bellagio or aria and be very close by. That also gives a good range of options for different room prices and values for them. Planet Hollywood would be the closest to you for walking distance. I hope you have a great birthday.

I would suggest either the Cosmo wrap-around suites or the terrace suites at MGM Grand, with Cosmo getting my vote.

Even if your friends don't stay at Cosmo, there are several hotels within short walking distance or cab ride. The views there at night are tremendous, especially with a view of the Bellagio fountains.

the terrace suites at MGM are no slouch either. 95% of those suites have more than enough room for 30-40 people to enjoy the night out on the terrace. The view there at night is pretty sweet in it's own right, but slightly less than Cosmo. What MG would have going for it though, your friends could easily stay there much cheaper than trying to stay at Cosmo if you stayed there.

I've never stayed there, but would be interested in staying at Elara at Planet Hollywood as well.

If strip accommodations are not a necessity, perhaps consider The Platinum?

Definitely go with your first thought, the wraparound terrace suite at Cosmo. We held my 50th in one overlooking Bellagio fountains and had the food catered by California Pizza Kitchen. Couldn't get a room deal for guests but Nicole Marshall at Trop gave even first timers to Vegas a rate of 59/night. Cosmo was the perfect setting for a milestone birthday.

I have been checking prices and RIO of course has all suites for the best price for you and your group. Others offering suites right now for around 125 are Hardrock, Southpoint and Stratosphere .

Great places to have a party for you and your friends of course is just about anywhere you end up but for a roudy party I have seen groups downtown doing their own craw plus cheap drinks and gaming and street bands, :drunk: Casino Royale for cheap drinks and gaming, indigo for dancing and live music.

Cosmo to me seems like the perfect place. Great views and great location.

There may be better options if the majority of people are staying in one location. I like the idea of doing it on the strip just because then you can walk to it and walk elsewhere afterwards without dealing with cabs. The few of these I've been to have usually ended with a large part of the group walking to a casino to gamble some together.

No idea if you were planning a dinner either, but Cosmo has some great places if you wanted to do a dinner beforehand and then drinks in the suite aftewards.
