Relative from cold country in PA was asking me about this. I told him it's not beach weather but I didnt think you had to pay Florida prices either.I think he'd just like to be around other people(mature) because he's by himself in the middle of nowhere(Altoona,Johnstown Pa)general area .

I know a "snowbird" who is out there for a month in a town home rental right now. So I'm sure a 3-month rental is available, but the price would be a bit higher per month than a 12-month lease would be.

you can find short term rentals for any time of the year in Vegas.
A short term rental will usually come 100% furnished. Everything from bath linens, sheets, kitchen utensils, and furniture are included. Also what is included are: utilities. hooking up utilities in a name for only 3 months is a rather expensive. so these furnished rentals come with electric, gas, water, and cable TV.
All a renter has to bring is their check book and toothbrush and thats it. The going rates are $1800-$4800 per month depending on size and # of bedrooms too.

Furnished rentals are also used for a temp home while searching for a home. and trying to decide on which area is most desirable. I have had many buyers come here and stay in a furnished rental while looking. It works out great.

We rent a condo for 1 month every winter. Great escape from the depth of winter. For us, it's sweatshirt weather. It's fun to watch the locals shiver in their down parkas and mittens when it dips down to 40-degrees.

Take a look at VRBO for a wide range of Las Vegas area rentals.

Never knew it was that high

He could be in Florida for that kind of money, but thanks anyway ,ive been telling him for years to move down into an over 55 in this area, you can get a one bedroom for a single guy pretty cheap 50K and up . Instead of being up to his butt in snow he could be up to it in widdows.

I have spoken with many folks who left FL for NV.
    the reasons
    1. humidity
    2. snakes and lizards on front porch and mail boxes
    3. mosquitos
    4. gaters and crocs ate the family pet

Yes FL is nice, but it has some critters there that can make your life a little bit miserable.
Yes, NV has critters too, but I have yet to worry about a croc or gater eating my family pet, or my mail box becoming a home for a boa.

I'm a snowbird in Homosassa renting on the river for three and a half months. 1. There is no excessive humidity in winter months. 2. We do see cute little lizards but no snakes. 3. There are no mosquitoes but the no see ums gnats can be annoying at this time of year. 4. The gators hibernate during these months and don't eat. The guides at the nearby wildlife park told us that just eating something the size of a sandwich would cause them to die.
I would not like Florida in the summer, but in the winter it is wonderful.
The river temperature is always 72 degrees. The manatee come up from the cold gulf to winter here. We were in the middle of about a dozen all frolicking yesterday, perhaps mating. We swim with them when we want. This is the only area where they can be touched legally, by just one hand. The manatee zoned motor controls means that things are layed back as everyone moves at idle speed.
Yesterday we saw osprey, anhinga, eggrets, big blue herons, small blue heron, turkey vultures, a bald headed eagle and plenty of feeding pelican. Then we pulled the pontoon up to the new Seagrass restaurant and had some ahi tuna and homemade cajun potato chips with a Kona Longboard on tap.
On Christmas a couple of the boys came down to swim with manatee and on Christmas eve day we had a guide pick us up and take us out fishing the gulf. Right after I post this, I'll be eating one of the sheepshead we caught that day and froze for later. It was fun and cool to be picked up right at the dock.
But the gambling is very sparce here. Live poker is everywhere around Tampa, in the casinos like the Hard Rock, in the dog tracks, at the horse track, but we like the less populated Northern area.
I better like Vegas when the pools are warm. I go in the spring after Florida or the Fall before Florida or both.

I left my northern lake because of an idiot across the narrow water who, in the area directly in front of our house, plowed the snow to make a circular ice track that was a magnet for every three wheeler or racing motorcyle for miles around and so noisey we could not hear our own television in winter with the windows shut.
It was shoot the basturd or be a snowbird so we gave Florida a try.
Now I would not trade Northern winters for all we enjoy here. And there are deals everywhere. However, the better places are booked by February for the coming December.
