So it look like we might go in March, after having to move our December reservation once & then cancelling it a week before we were going to go.... anyway now when I get on my CET calendar - I have no comp rooms available anywhere on any day. Previously I could book any regular room at any property any day of the week comp'd ... for as many days as I would put in.

Crap. I wish I had known I wouldn't have made the reservations until the week before if I had known. I am not taking the MGM offer until just before we go - in case we have to postpone again.

This is just an FYI for others.

Are you sure it because of the cancellation? I've always had problems getting comps for much of March through May due to supply and demand.

Like Leo said March is a busy month.

Do you have any comped offers for January? I can get most weekdays comped in Jan and very few in March.

What facts indicate your offers have dropped due to cancelled reservations?

I highly doubt canceling your reservations has anything to do with it. I live near two CET casinos and have cancelled reservations countless times. It's most likely due to March Madness being one of the busiest times and also if you haven't played at CET for a while -- assuming since you've cancelled two trips.

My hotel reservations section on total rewards is littered with cancelled reservations....never hurt new offers

Just that all the comp rooms are gone & it happened after I cancelled the reservation. After the comps being perpetually available & now none are available - any month, it seems correlational. No that is not definitive proof of causational but there is no other change in my CET activity & no reason for the comps to disappear now, timing wise.

Rooms can disappear 5 minutes after just looking. Supply and demand.

Okay but don't you think it's mighty strong co-inky-dink that before I cancelled I could have any regular room any day at all the CET properties but now the 2 month calender show that I have to pay for all the rooms - even the Quad?

I suppose the CET rate calendar could have been preset to expire all my comp room at that same time but after years of available comps it seems odd that that would happen

What is your tier level and estimated ADT? Like others have said, it is most likely due to the fact most hotels during MM are close to 100% occupancy, but it is also possible CET may be rolling out some changes to their comp equation.

More than likely though, it is simply due to the increased demand for rooms during MM. As a reference, I am usually comp at any hotel for any date with suites at all hotels except CP which is up to an Octavius Tower room, but there are actually a couple weekend dates during March where I would have to pay for a standard room at CP. The rest of the hotels are still comp, but not a suite...just a basic room.

Thanks - it's not just March it's the entire rate calender for 2 months... You know when you pull up the rate calendar you can search 2 months of rooms, well that all used to be comp (without the exponential caveat or option qualifier) on regular rooms - now it's all pay for rooms.

I have no idea what my ADT is but it was enough to have the rate calendar the way it was. I was platinum until sometime in Sept & then it dropped to gold, but even when I started at gold I had some comped rooms.

It's possible one of your larger play trips dropped out of their calculation. I would bet anything this has nothing to do with you cancelling a reservation.

As others said, I think it is supply/demand. I booked 4 nights mid March at the Flamingo back in December for total of $45 (had to pay for Friday night). If I look for those 4 nights now they want $450 total.

    hmmmm....

I just checked rate calendar for Vegas, Tunica and one other place. I have not paid for a room in 5 years. Diamond whole time. 42,000 Tier last year, over 8,000 this year. Not sure of ADT but it tends to be strong, but I have had a number of low play days, and lots of high play as well.

No free rooms show at all.

They have done something. I have not cancelled any rooms either.

    Weird stuff.

I have cancelled dozens of rooms at CET with no effect.

Well except for the time I cancelled a comped room at P.Ho under 72 hours before arrival and they charged me $186.

CET reworked their whole rewards process. Might have something to do with that.

ahhhh - so it is coincidental timing then.

That sucks. I have always kept my CET possibilities in my back pocket so to speak & was really looking forward to staying at Paris for this trip. I guess I am staying at an MGM on one of their offers.

I play where I stay or with the brand I am staying with - the free room offers work on me I guess. I am sure I am not the only one - strange decision by CET to yank even the Quad.

CET needs to hire a psychologist on their marketing team.

Thanks guys for solving that mystery.

If that's the case and CET is getting tighter with comped rooms there is absolutely no reason I can see to play there anymore. They already have inferior gambling conditions and inferior hotels. The only thing they had going for them was somewhat decent room comps. If they improved the gambling conditions significantly it could be worthwhile. But when they are the inferior product in all three regards its time to dump them.

I've cancelled and rebooked reservations for comped rooms as much as 3x in a day, never a problem.
